"But it's my body!"

I usually answer this argument by saying something like,

“Oh, really? So your body has two heartbeats, two sets of brainwaves, two unique DNA patterns, and possibly two genders? I didn’t know all that was possible.”

Nice.

As a project Rachel counselor who has counseled many women who have had abortions and suffered severely after believing the lie that it was their body and they could do what they want with it, I simply tell them it is not their body I worry about as much as their sanity and their soul. I share with them the results I see for the women who drink or drug to cover up the horror they feel for having murdered their own child…even if the horror is subconscious for years. I work in a women’s overflow facility for a state prison. I do substance abuse counseling there and a high percentage of the women have had abortions. If these women who think it is there body to do with what they please cannot find it within themself to care about the innocent life within them, maybe they can be enlightened to give the baby up for adoption for their own self-interest.
Thank-you so much for working with Rachel’s Vineyard. My mother lived with the guilt of an abortion for more than twenty-five years before she finally learned about this fantastic ministry and found one nearby. My father and I went with her on a retreat, and it’s changed the three of us for the better. My aborted sibling became my big brother, Michael Isaac King. Thank-you for giving me back my brother 🙂 ((hug))

No one could ever get away with performing similar actions on animals - no matter whether domesticated pets or wild creatures.
Actually this is not true and would not make a good argument. It is a rather common occurrance with farm animals including those on my own farm. Especially dairy and breeding stock farms. Although when an animal is purposely aborted it is usually done with a series of shots such as Lutalyse and Dexamethosone.

I continue to be frustrated in convserations with pro-abortionists who seem to think “a woman’s body is her own” is quite a legitimate excuse for abortion.
Aside from the fact that the unborn child is not the mother, more frustrating still is how “a woman’s body being her own” could be a legitimate excuse to have a piece of it amputated. If a woman went to the doctor to have her arm removed just because it is her body, I would be willing to bet the doctor is charged with malpractice who performs such surgery.

Another interesting question: Does being a woman’s body make everyone their own mother?

I just say, “You’re right. Your body is your own. But that person inside of you is not you and it can not consent to what Certainly you can not drink while pregnant and say it’s okay because ‘Your body is your own’. As soon as that innocent child is out, you continue living a life free of responsibilities and give the child up for adoption. Or realize what the gift of human life is and raise your child with help, if you’re able.”

You are most welcome!
