I lost the 50 lbs in about four months, then took a break. My new phone doesn’t run the fitbit app so I haven’t been going back much. I should start another push as I want to lose another 50 lbs.
Got it. So you’re probably going to need to stay with something that’s passable as fitting when looser. Wide leg dress pants can be a little more flexible as the fabric can hide weight changes. Similarly, drapey blazers or cardigans that are meant to hang are useful.
I have the same “problem” right now. I’ve been walking 5-6 miles several days a week and the weight is melting off fast. I went to a consignment shop and bought just a few outfits that can be mixed and matched and I just do laundry often. I bought a lot of yoga pants for wearing around the house. Pants are the biggest problem because I’ll buy a pair and just a few weeks later they’ll be too big but tops fit much longer. I would suggest hitting the clearance racks for pants as much as possible.
Another suggestion would be to try and borrow from friends. Most women have clothes in several sizes hoping to lose the baby weight soon and can lend out a couple pairs of dress slacks for a few months.
I’m in a similar scenario. I need to lose weight and lower my triglycerides. I’m doing well so far. I’ve lost about 15 pounds.
What’s good about losing weight is that you can have your existing clothes tailored for cheaper than buying all new clothes.
I’ve been in denial about my weight gain until I saw pictures taken at my son’s communion. So far I haven’t needed to tailor any clothes, but I can feel the difference.
My goal is the weight I was before I had my first child. I’m worried more about my skin, since I’m older and skin loses elasticity. But good luck
Congratulations on your weight loss and best wishes on your continued success!
I’m a huge fan of your basic, good old thrift store. Consignment stores are nice too, but they can actually be pricey because people typically consign designer clothing. But I’ve gotten a good chunk of my wardrobe from thrift stores and gotten some excellent items. I used to get my entire family their winter wardrobe for $100 and that was 6 kids and my husband and I. No one would ever guess that most of my stuff is thrifted.
Another benefit is that many times, you’re supporting a charitable organization by shopping there, and when you’re done, you can donate the clothes back again. The ultimate in recycling. You can also see if there is free cycle group near you. I’ve given away bags of clothes is great condition on free cycle, just because someone asked me and I wanted to get rid of them. Craigslist is an option as well. Just use common sense when dealing with these groups and you’ll be fine.
It is okay to buy new clothes if you do not have many clothes that will currently fit you. When you lose more weight the new clothes you have bought will look even better on you!
