Buying something from a store that happened to sell new age stuff

Long story short, I was at the mall today and walking into this store that had some cute clothes. Saw a casual dress that I liked, then went to the front counter to begin purchasing it. Just as I was about to pull my wallet out of my purse, I look on the counter and there were tarot cards for sale. Really wasn’t sure if I should just awkwardly walk away just as I was making a purchase, so I just went ahead and bought the dress anyways.

The store also sold these weird masquerade/mardi gras esque masks, some with horns like demons (saw them only as I was walking out).

There wasn’t a whole lot of that stuff, but it was there. I became scrupulous and tried returning it but, it was a clearance item so I couldn’t -_-

Did I do wrong by giving my money to a store that sells such things? Should I even wear the dress even? Idk, maybe I’m just thinking too much…

And really, it’s just a dress, and you didn’t know about the other stuff they sold until it was too late. You didn’t do anything wrong.
 
Might I also point out that you didn’t deliberately choose to go into that store for the purpose of purchasing an item to show your support for them in selling those particular range of goods. You went in their to purchase a dress. The dress itself is morally neutral - assuming it is modest and not split up to the groin etc. If it is not immodest, then wear it.

If those items were all the store sold and you bought one to show solidarity with those things, agreed and supported their use. Then that is completely different from what you did.
 
Stores sell a lot of unrelated items. Assuming the store isn’t the attached gift shop of a Satanic temple or anything blatant like that, it’s fine to buy a dress without having to review every other item in the store’s stock to decide if it’s morally okay. Back in the days of department stores, this would have meant that I couldn’t buy a washer at Sears if it was also selling an immodest swimsuit up on the fourth floor, and I would have had to spend hours reviewing all the inventory of some store before I could purchase the thing I went there for. Just quit worrying about it.

Excellent point. Along those same lines…every grocery store and pharmacy in my city sells condoms. I don’t buy those particular items but I do buy groceries and medications there. I would be in some serious trouble very quickly if I didn’t shop there due to the condoms on their shelves.

Be at peace and enjoy your dress. If shopping in that store makes you feel uncomfortable you can avoid it in the future.

To be quite honest, in this case I would burn the article of clothing rather than wear or return it.
 
And a very unnecessary waste of money and fabric.

Sometimes I go to Barnes and Nobel. Some of their books are explicit material.
I’m still allowed to shop there (for other stuff)

On the contrary, you might have done a good thing by purchasing that dress. After all, stores sell products to make money. Even if the store’s owners are trying to promote new age ideas, if these items are unprofitable or much less profitable than other items, they are more likely to stop selling these. So you made it that much more likely that they will stop selling new age items to sell more dresses.
