I was recently at BYU and noticed a poster in the Wilkinson Center with the headline “By your fruits ye shall know them.” Is this a valid way to judge the truth of a religion? And if so why would you choose say Catholicism over Mormonism or Mormonism over Seventh-Day Adventism or any of them over the Jehovah’s Witnesses based on the fruits they display?

Bob Jones University in South Carolina has a residence hall named in honor of Bibb Graves, former Alabama governor and Grand Dragon of the Montgomery chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.

By your fruits ye shall know them
Gotta agree with that…

“VALID”…YES!

Valid because the Catholic Church is the ONLY Christian Church Teaching THE [singular] TRuth on ALL matters of Faith belief and Morals, and is so warranted by God Himself. In His Power and with His Authority [John20:19-22], Jn.14:16-17], [John 17:15-19] and [Matthew 16:15-19].

Also because the RCC is the Original Bible church, having “birthed the bible” under God’s direction

And because The CC has MORE Grace available than any, even all other christian faith through the seven Sacraments.

God Bless,
Pat

Yes you will know them by thier fruits. You will know the difference between a priest and one of these hypocrit faith healers because most priests live in small houses and do good all the time while most faith healers are greedy fakes who live in million dollar homes. However, Christ also says that there will be weeds in the wheat. The bad and good will flock to the true church. However, the teachings of the true church will lead to the good of people and be true. So, while a baptist can be good (although they do use the Bible which was created by Catholicism and inspired by God), that doesn’t automatically make their church true. They have to also preach the truth to be the true church.

I don’t have a Bible in front of me, but isn’t it “by their fruits” not “by your fruits”? Anyway, do any of those other Churches claim to have miracles, incorruptible bodies, a guide for spiritual perfection, or thousands of saintly men and women? I would say that these are good fruits from a tree!

I always saw that verse as applying to each individual separately, never to an organization as a whole.

You are correct – typed it too fast. Any way I can get it changed to correct it?
