When I went to the Byzantine Catholic church in a nearby town, the priest let people know that those present that were Roman Catholics about Communion requirements - he never said we had to be confirmed but just properly disposed (no mortal sin, fasted an hour before, having received our 1st Communion, etc) plus how to receive Communion.
That is like what my pastor does (Byzantine). A lot of Latin Catholic visitors come to our parish. If he does not know those coming forward for Divine Eucharist, he asks if* first communion* has been received, with no question about confirmation.

RyanBlack and iepuras, it was so nice to visit with you guys after Divine Liturgy. Briana and I, and Brian and Susanne, talked about how friendly the folks are at St. John Chrysostom, and it was such a beautiful Liturgy. I forget who the Deacon was, but he was SO warm and welcoming…I was truly impressed by that. 🙂

We’ll have to visit again someday.

So glad you had a positive experience!

I’m sure your Eastern Catholic friends here on CAF would join me in encouraging you to attend one or more of the Holy Week services, if you can. They are truly remarkable.
