I don’t know if it is appropriate to ask this here on CAF, but are there any Byzantine Catholics in San Antonio, TX? Where do you worship? At the Maronite Catholic Church at Babcock? At the territorial Latin church? Do you travel to the mission church in Austin (I think it is based out of a Maronite building?)?

I have (re-)started having an interest in Byzantine spirituality as of late (due in part to my previous visit to a Greek Orthodox Church a long time ago and also to watching youtube videos of Catholic Divine Liturgies, especially the Cherubic Hymn). I don’t know what to do with or how to further my interest in it, though. I would, however, be interested in attending Divine Liturgy, preferably a Catholic one (I’ve already been to the Maronite church). I’ve also started researching on the Byzantine Forum.

I understand Fr. Mykola Dovzhuk of the Protection of the Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Church in Houston has been there a time or two. You might want to contact him about the possibility of starting something:

The Byzantine Catholic Community in San Antonio will serve its first Divine Liturgy on March 27, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Chapel at the Oblate Seminary. If anyone would like more information email jgmyra35@gmail.com.
