Byzantine Mass breakdown

We have Presanctified Liturgy on Pure Monday and Thursday evening (since then it’s liturgically Friday) plus Great Monday thru Great Wednesday. Our sister parish has Presanctified on Wednesdays and Byzantine Stations of the Cross. So our poor pastor (he serves both parishes) is very busy during the Great Fast.

For crying out loud, it’s three days from Sunday to Wednesday, and five from Sunday to Friday . . . what, like it’s going to go stale or something if you leave it be??

[note: the East fasts from the DL during the week during Lent, with a bit off relief being in holding the Presanctifed Liturgy on Wednesday and Friday.]

Stale is not a problem, but we’ve had moldy. I would prefer not to repeat that experience.

I went to the Liturgy for Theophany this morning. Is the blessed bread the remaining Eucharist? I took some afterwards (I was hoping it would take place after the Liturgy was concluded so I could ask) and consumed it before I left in case it was.

And what is the blessing that takes place at the end with oil?

There is bread that is blessed, but not consecrated, called antidoron. The bread for the antidoron is taken from the same prosphora as the bread that is consecrated for the Eucharist, but is set aside and blessed after the epiclesis. It is typically offered at the end of Divine Liturgy, and anyone may receive it. Some parishes only offer antidoron on feast days, but at my parish we have it at every Divine Liturgy. The anointing at the end with oil is known as mirovanije, and takes place on major feast days.

Thanks! I initially thought that it wasn’t consecrated, since it was being “handed out”, but had doubts after seeing people consume it immediately. I’m still new to this.

What is the purpose of the anointing?
 
This card/pamphlet has been around a long time and it’s terribly insulting to the Roman Catholic Church. It’s not accurate either.
 
Where is the offense that I, as a Roman, am supposed to be taking? I don’t see anything wrong there.
 
Maybe the focus on the contemporary in the “Roman Rite Today” section?

I would say with certainty that anyone at a Byzantine Church who passed these out would have meant no disrespect.
 
To paraphrase @Thom18, I don’t see exactly what is offensive about it. Could you please point out what is inaccurate?

I think that it presents a caricature of Liturgy in the modern Latin Rite, but shows only the ideal of the Byzantine Rite Liturgy.

I’m sure they are. Many Catholics have not the slightest idea what a “Byzantine Catholic” even is.

My son and I may go to Las Vegas this summer. We might have to stop by. He’s never experienced a Byzantine Divine Liturgy before.
 
Our priest leaves the lid off the pyx and puts an electric fan on a wooden folding chair next to the altar so that the host will not mold.

I think we average an airport visitor a week, most of whom are happy with the experience.
 
Thanks. That trip is very tentative right now. My son is wanting to see the Grand Canyon and visit Flagstaff (saw something about it in a video or game), and I explained to him that both are an easy day’s drive from LV. We are on the east coast and will either have to fly or take a massive road trip. The train is a possibility but we would have to drive to Charleston WV and park our car, a 300+ mile trip.
 
Yes, both an easy drive from here.

Unfortunately, Amtrak stopped stopping here 😦

On the bright side, flights here are cheap from most airports (except Des Moines)
