Dear Friends,
I thought I’d share the version of the Byzantine rosary I use, please let me know how you like it and post your own versions! Please also note that although i use the term “rosary” I understand that the Roman form is a latinization and I am not intending to open a can of worms. I would like this thread to discuss the Byzantine roots of the rosary (i.e. St. Seraphim of Sarov, etc.)

I got permission to say this instead of my rosary from a Melkite monk.
  1. Trisagion Prayers
  2. Nicene Creed instead of the Apostle’s Creed
  3. The “Hail Mary” is changed to the following:
Hail, immaculate ever virgin Theotokos, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb for thou hast given birth to the Saviour of our souls, the Lord Jesus Christ our true God. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
  1. The “Glory be” is as follows:
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
  1. The “Hail, Holy Queen” is replaced with the “It is truly right…”

There are many variations of it but yes this is the one I use.
 
Sean! It’s good to see you on here. It’s been awhile. Here’s the version I use.

Normal Trisagion prayers (including Psalm 50) and Creed.

Hail Mary (as follows):

“Rejoice, Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the Fruit of your womb, for you have given birth to the Savior of our souls.” (This is found in the Publican’s Prayerbook)

Between the decades I do the “Glory be…” basically as you say it, as well as the “Our Father.” I don’t meditate on any mysteries as I haven’t memorized the ones recommended by St. Seraphim.

To conclude the Prayer Rule I recite, “Under your protection we run, O Mother of God, reject not our prayers in our trouble, but deliver us from harm, only pure, only blessed one.” (again from the Publican’s Prayerbook). I end with “It is truly meet…”

Out of curiosity, do you do the complete 150, or do you just do 50 at a time? I believe St. Seraphim recommended breaking the Prayer Rule up according to one’s strength.

I do 50 but now that you mention it I might try 150. Out of curiosity why do you not use mysteries?

15 decades:

After each decade say:

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Open unto us the door of thy loving-kindness,
O blessed Mother of God,
in that we set our hope on thee, may we not go astray;
but through thee may we be delivered from all adversities,
for thou art the salvation of all Christian people.
 
I use the Rosary for short introduction prayers then work my way around various prayer books.
