I am sure there are plenty - I know some of them. Please don’t get me wrong - I realize I am very blessed that we made this journey together and are both Catholic. I do realize there is heartache for those in mixed religious marriages and certainly do not want to put my situation in the same category as them - it is entirely different. I had a Jewish parent and a Catholic parent - believe me, I get it. Still the same I do need to navigate my family’s particular situation with care - which is why I sought advice on this forum.
I know and I am NOT trivializing your situation. My wife and I were a Catholic (me) - Protestant (her) couple before we were married.

I pray that you find a solution to your problem that will satisfy ALL of your collective spiritual needs 🙂

God bless you and your family, Sir.

Thank you! I did not feel trivialized 🙂 I hope your wife has joined the Church and if not will pray that it happens soon.

God bless you and yours as well.

She did indeed. Easter Vigil 2013. She is now the cantor at the 7:30am Mass at our parish. 😃

When I was a kid, we rotated weekends (I was RC, as are both my parents). We kept the Wednesday/Friday fasts, had icons, but still said the Rosary, went to Adoration &c. I thought it was pretty well balanced. Your children will learn to balance the distinctions, and probably choose which fits their preference. If you are discerning a call to the diaconate, that will necessitate one over the other, at least for for ordination and formation. The two diaconates are not the same.

In Christ,
Adam

Optimus Prime: Your parish may already have this, or be providing it soon. Anyway, for the upcoming Apostles’ Fast, from the Eparchy of Newton, Office of Educational Services Director, Deacon Sabatino Carnazzo: The Fast of the Apostles in the Home

Now my question: Do any of you integrate eastern and western spirituality into your domestic church? .
My ancestral Church is the Ruthenian Catholic Church, but we now live in Alabama and there are not Ruthenian Catholic Churches, so we go the the local Latin Rite Catholic Church. Our children are all grown, so there that isn’t a consideration for us.

Will they bury you with no problem in the Latin rite Catholic Church? If you had an Eastern Orthodox relative who died far from home, but close to you, would the Latin rite Catholic Church bury her, assuming the EO Church was not nearby?

We are ancestrally of the Ruthenian Catholic Church SUI Juris, in full communion with the Holy See so we are fully Catholic. There is an Eastern Orthodox Church here and they have their own consecrated section of the cemetery. However, I have had Protestant relatives interred in our family plot back where we are from and there seemed to be no problem. I am unaware of any restriction aside from the case of a notorious apostate.
Nowadays even the notorious apostate and abortion promoter Ted Kennedy got a Catholic burial, though he publicly promoted killing of innocent unborn children and against Church teachings for over 40 years.
