Although I’ve not yet read Allegory of Love, perhaps it’s helpful to say that this was the fourth book Lewis published–some call it a classic of professional writing and medieval scholarship–but it is by no means typical of Lewis’ philosophic and evangelical writing, nor his Christian-oriented science fiction. I recommend reviews at goodreads.com.
I have nothing against strictly scholarly publications like this–but it seems quite certain to me that most of Lewis’ writings are much more enjoyable. You might find convenient the list of Lewis books I published in our Lewis/Chesterton group here at Ccom.
