Getting rid of a good tenant??? Having more people in an apt. or house than is legally allowed is not a good tenant and it can be a FIRE and HEALTH hazard.
You still have no basis for determining “Illegal” status. And, if they didn’t qualify in the first place you woulnd’t have rented to them.
WE rent a house that we own…if you can not pass a credit history check (which most illegals can not) than we will not rent to you…if you have more people move in. in the middle of the night than what your lease allows I will call the cops or INS and get somebody evicted or deported
Yes most of the “Illegal” do not possess a SS#, but many landlords do not run credit checks. Usually rentals that do are too expensive anyway.

But it is discriminatory to call INS because unathorized tenants are not proof of “Illegal” status.

well lets see can they pass a simple credit check? provide references?
Again, it would not be prudent to rent to someone who does not qualify in the first place. And, as a former INS employee they traditionally don’t respond to this type of request for lack of manpower and you though you may suspect an “Illegal” you have no real proof.

Didn’t Schartzenagger (sp??) ban immingrants (non-citizens) from applying for their driver’s licenses??

Though it is true that our Governor used this to his advantage in a recall election of former Governor Gray Davis, the basis for denying new “Illegal” immigrants licenses was based on the “Real I.D. Act” enacted by Congress.

Duh, he would be hurting himself! And, how would he determine that they were “Illegal”?
Illegals have tons of fraudulent identification papers. They work as long as the papers aren’t examined too closely.

And, they won’t complain if they are gouged for substandard living quarters.

Yes, this is true. The Federal government does not consider driving a “Right” but a “Privilege” and each State is allowed to enact its own laws, so the Governor is within his authority.
