In a July 8 audience with the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Pope Francis approved the publication of decrees that advance nine beatification causes.

I’m especially happy to hear this news about California’s own Venerable Bishop Alphonse Gallegos, O.A.R.

As St. John Paul II once wrote, “What a great gift it is for a diocese to have its own saints and its own blesseds,” and this is indeed a blessing for the Diocese of Sacramento.
 
It would be wonderful to see Servant of God, Fr. John Hardon on that list!
