I think I get your point, however. You are speaking about a small number of protestants that take sola scritura to an extreme. In fact, I think you are talking about solo scriptura.
Sola Scriptura does not state that all things not in the Bible are condemned, otherwise most protestants would not use the three creeds, etc. Lutherans, for example, have the Book of Concord, our confession of faith. It isn’t in the Bible, but we believe that it properly reflects scripture. Sola Scriptura more often means that human tradition and practices cannot contradict scripture.
Luther (and some Lutherans, such as myself) believed most of the Marion dogmas (except invocation) currently held by Catholics. He also said that since scripture is not clear on the subject, it should not be an article of faith, leaving Christians to decide for themselves.
