Protestants have a hard time calling anything sacred. I was one, at least trying to act like the like for awhile. When I came back I began to see more clearly how things are turned around. I believe some maybe not all but the thinking is man is basically evil, God can not come into man, so anything as sacred cannot dwell in him. And if you commit a sin God runs away like heck. And then you have to go find him again, like in your closet to pray. Jesus did approach Peter, but they would excuse this and turn it around and call it a rejection instead of an approach. They don’t really most anyways do not do a collective prayer. What I mean is a joint response prayer. so i don’t think they even think prayer is sacred, when this is what Psalms are? Go figure. This I am beginning to see more than ever, now this is like Islam, but even they will say a joint but not out loud, and Orthodox Judaism. They don’t like to do too much prayer and You don’t really see the Jews holding hands or are in unnision although I did see it on You - tube the other day. So this is not tradition, but they have a tradition like meals prayers but then again not all say the same prayer together only one leads usually the male. the others are thinking why do I have to sit next to uncle Joe again.

They will have tradition to read from scripture but then again no response, at home I mean. They don’t hold hands that I know of because they think if anyones sees them the people will think they are a cult and heaven forbid to stand in a circle, oh my goodness. So much stereotyping.
At Christmas, my FIL has us do readings with individual responses etc. many of us participate, but there is not any discussion not any joint prayer no requests, we are all around a table and have “the book”. No singing reminds me of “Christian Scientist,” we had visited. They don’t have a cross in their public building, I asked why and they said we don’t believe in deities the cross.

But you are “Chrisitan”?
They do call a lot of things “tradition”, the father in the home type.
You know as for me and my house etc…
They don’t think the Eucharist is sacred because I believe they don’t think anyone could be clean enough to actually ingest God into their being, but we can ask Him into our heart,(our person our mind our soul) just pray

go figure.
It is sad I think! I am so glad to be back to the Eucharist as I missed so much but now we can all bring the “good news” to them.
