Maybe it’s an issue of context?
The Bible calls priests and prophets fathers. In Judges 17:10, the Ephraimite Micah asks a transient Levite, “Stay with me; be father and priest to me.” Later (Judges 18:19), a Danite war party persuades the same Levite to leave Micah, saying: “Come with us and be our father and priest.” Indeed, *the Bible finds priesthood and fatherhood inseparably united. *Could you point me to some bible verses that show that peter was referred to as father? Not flaming just want to add them to my list of apologetics verses.
I am aware of pauls discord on the subject in corintheans but not really of any other.
thanks

It’s always an issue of context. Othewise, it’s out of context and you can make the Bible say whatever you want.Maybe it’s an issue of context?
Excellent post.i can tell you what i think from my point of view. Jesus is True Man, and True God. witnesses think He is not God. So here is what i can say to them with 100% accuracy.
Jesus is True Man, and True God right? right. We therefore can call Him God because He is God. they state that we can only call God the Father. what they do not understand and deny is the divinity of Jesus.
Since He is God, He can be called God, and He is God.
Maybe because the New Testament wasn’t available to Paul when he wrote his letters?I was wondering why Paul called himself “Father” then![]()
Maybe “SAINT” Paul knew context and not re-formed self interpretation that is never wrong in ones own mind?Maybe because the New Testament wasn’t available to Paul when he wrote his letters?
So what does one call their dad? Is the word father ever mentioned outside of God? I mean lets take this to its ultimate meaning, or do we?To the Non-Catholic, this means that only God can be called ‘Father’. This is in reference, obviously, to Catholics calling thier Priest ‘Father’ and therefore alledgedly contridicting scripture. It’s a classic objection.
Yes, it is from scripture.hola
i am very confused, could somebody please provide the context of this quote? is it something from scripture?
gracias
Dominus Vobiscum
What do you call your male parent, steel arrow?I know that catholics don’t like non-catholics to quote from the Bible, but I will anyway. There is only one reference in the Holy Bible of the word “reverend”. In Psalm 111:9 we read, "He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever; Holy and reverend is His name.
No matter how you try to discerne it, the Bible is very clear. In Matthew 23:9 Jesus stated, “Do not call anyone on earth you father; for One is your father, He who is in heaven.”
I don’t know what more it will take to convince the RC’s, that God, not the pope, is soverign. All the brainwashing the RCC has done to you over the years, has you contradicting the thoughts and words of God and His Son for the doctrine and dogma of the RCC.
Also, Jesus prohibited using the titles: Rabbi and teacher. His words are very clear. You should make a decision, believe that the Bible is the inerrant wordof God and follow His teachings or the teachings of man known as the Roman Catholic Church. It is apparent that the words of God are being twisted by the RCC hierarchy and commanded as an act of faith. By addressing your priest as 'father", you sin against God because he said not to do so.
Dad. I never used the word father. What do you call your male parent, steel arrow?
