Call to Action => call to milwaukeeans

First, I did a search on this forum and on catholic answers home page and got a lot of links to unrelated items. Can anyone direct me to some information on this group.

Next, it’s my understanding that they’re a dissident group. As someone who lives near milwaukee, is anyone doing anything about Call to Action’s conference coming up? Handing out literature? etc.

As usual every year since the CTA conference came to Milwaukee (convention space here is much cheaper than in Chicago…), the archbishop (past and current) has snubbed and/or denounced it. The denunciation this year was especially strong, since there are on the official conference schedule this year two morning prayer sessions involving schismatic clergy, one on Saturday sponsored by the schismatic Spiritus Christi Community, and one on Sunday involving some of the “River Ordained”. If they proceed with schismatic eucharistic services, this will take them all the way over the railings out of the Barque of Peter.

They started out as a solidly Catholic group, in fact founded by the bishops, but have become wilder and wierder with the years, with little discernment as to who should teach and lecture — they take anyone who claims catholicity at face value. In the last decade or so, they’ve been clinging to the outside of the port bow railing…

I am forming an opinion that what is happening in these groups is that the Catholics loyal to the Church don’t join them in the first instance and they become magnets for every discontented kook on the fringes of the Church. Once they get in and take over “that is all she wrote.” The organization literally goes to hell. I would imagine it would be difficult if not impossible to take these organizations back. Maybe it is rooted in the tendency for some loyal Catholics to say “Yes, Father” without thinking much about what they are agreeing to. On the plus side we do have some organizations, CA being a prime example, that involve lay people who can fight a good fight.

So do I just let it be? Or should I arm myself with a truckload of “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth” booklets and hand them out down there?

Would it be worth it?
