Actually, I am in Alaska, which is another planet entirely.
Eeeek!! Stomp it out before it multiplies!

Probably the definitive resource on the history and errors of this group is a book called “Call To Action, Call To Apostacy?” It is published by Human Life International:

Also, here is an informative article:

My parish pastor is a member of this group. He doesn’t say it publicly, but he told me that he belonged to it along with some other parishoners in our Church.

Interestingly, he remains in close association with the former pastor who was removed for being accused of engaging in sexual relations with an anonymous adult male.

I never really knew what this group represented. I believe that many of the lay ministers that are receiving pastoral degrees from Catholic educational institutions and seminaries these days are quite sympathetic toward groups like Catholics for a Free Choice, Call to Action and VOTF.

Pastor reads NCR and America regularly, and I doubt would be a big fan of Catholic Answers. In fact, during all Masses on the final Sunday before the 2004 election, he warned parishoners that it is inconsistent with the Catholic faith to vote for someone that holds a pro-death penalty position. He didn’t mention that it is also inconsistent with the Catholic faith to vote for someone who holds a pro-abortion position. Local Democratic leaders have been formally invited to functions at our parish. Never has one Local Republican leader, not that there are many, been invited. All invitations need to be run by the pastor first.

It does no good to go to the diocesan officials to complain as he was once one of them, and remains in close friendship with this network of aging “60’s” priests.

I have decided to stay and fight somewhat like Rosa Parks did. I have the ear of some other parishoners who feel as I do. We have begun to silently weave our way into indispensable roles in the parish. It’s a shame that we have to play politics, but I guess that’s the only way we can take back our parish from such creeping progressive heterodoxy.
That is so sad! But keep up the good work. I fear this is happening in a lot of places. I was visiting my friend in Washington DC, and at Mass one of their announcements at the end was the meeting time and place for Catholics for a Free Choice. 😦

That’s nothing, last Christmas, our pastor had a baby clothing drive. Items were collected and distributed to, get this, Planned Parenthood!!! I suppose that they hand out the clothing to unwed inner-city and teen mothers as well as perform abortions on the side. Pastor said it was important to support them in “the good work that they are doing for the poor.” Give me a break!

This is at a Catholic church?!? I would almost write a letter to the Vatican!

In my midwest town I heard on Ave Maria Radio that our area has started a conference to combat CTA - Call to Holiness. It’s a great conference…a lot of great speakers, Fr. Groeschel, Jeff Cavins, Al Kresta, etc.

I guess that Planned Parenthood also provides alternatives to those who decide to keep their babies. He wanted to encourage and support this, and to demonstrate that not all Catholics are religious zealots waving signs and rosaries in front of abortion clinics. While his heart may be in the right place, and some Catholic parishoners would agree with him in this, it sends an awkward message.

This particular priest is his own man, to be sure. He also includes persons who were divorced (without obtaining an anullment) and who were re-married in responsible roles in the parish like extraordinary minister, etc. I’ve seen him drop a consecrated eucharist on the floor and leave it there until after communion. Words are left out or changed in the liturgy to be more “gender inclusive.” I have strong suspicions that he is of a same-sex orientation (not that it really matters if one is committed to being a celibate), and that explains why he, and so many other same-sex celibates in leadership roles in the RCC, naturally lean left.

Andrew Greeley was right in this. There appears to be a gay subculture in the Catholic Church…see below

I’m from Lincoln, and Call to Action was one of the groups that Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz excommunicated people for being a part of.
Gotta love that man…maybe human cloning has its place in the world after all…we need more Bruskewitz bishops! 😃

It’s definitely nice! The new bishop of the Witchita diocese (I think that diocese?) in Kansas was a Lincoln Diocese priest, a Bruskewitz trainee :). There’s a couple other bishops that come either from Bruskewitz or Flavin (previuos bishop, same great defender of the Church) that have been placed pretty prominently, although I’m not sure where.

They advertise themselves as liberals. I guess its the least you can expect. 😦

Reading all these posts make me glad I am in the Catholic Church for the teachings she gives and instructs.

WIth that said, is there a way for you to, ‘dispose’ of the flyers if you see them?
I don’t know if that would be considered ‘destruction’ but the people going would have their Souls destroyed.

I might just do that. I did contact the Bishop’s office to no avail. They are very busy in this diocese doing damage control in the wake of a lot of lawsuits pertaining to sexual abuse by priests. I have a feeling this will just get ignored.

Regarding the priest who wanted to show that not all Catholics are sign-waving nuts: way to sell out your faith. Planned Parenthood may help out those who keep their babies in some small way, but they kill babies for those who don’t. Under no circumstances should you have anything to do with Planned Parenthood. Oh, and the Christians waving signs and praying in front of abortion mills aren’t protesting the giving of baby clothes to mothers in need, they are protesting the murders going on behind those doors. Those “sign-waving” kooks who are actually living their faith like they have a pair are NOT deserving of being apologized for by someone who should be not just supportive of, but instigating pro-life works. I find it hard to believe that there’s no Catholic maternity home or charitable thrift store this priest could go through to help unwed mothers. Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for them.
