I’m going to be attending Theology on Tap this thursday and that’s the title of the discussion.

It’s going to be given by a woman who believes she is called to the priesthood.

Any good reading FROM Vatican II that I should read before I go so that I can be edumacated?

Thanks.

Of course I would read the Encyclical Christifideles Laici by John Paul II which expanded on the Vatican II Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity. Also you might read the Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests. Pope Paul VI also wrote an encyclical on the priesthood which also explained the reasons for only the Ordination of men and celibacy.

you could simply remind her that the call to the priesthood comes from the Holy Spirit, not from the internal promptings and emotions of the individual, and it is not possible for the Holy Spirit to call someone to a position expressly prohibited by Jesus Christ Himself, and by the Church He founded, which is itself guided and protected by the same Holy Spirit.
