My parish is having a Knight of Columbus “Call To Mass” to honor members who have died, etc. Does anybody know what this is? It’s on Tuesday night and there really isn’t any more info than what I gave. Knights, their families, and parishoners are all welcome.

I would assume it is self-explanatory. They are having a Mass to honor these members and people are invited (called) to come.

Man I always love coming to this Catholic site and getting smart *** replies. Thanks!
I don’t think think his intention was being a wise ***. Anyways, it just sounds like the knights are having a ceremony at mass, the ceremony being centered around honoring the deceased. I wouldn’t expect anything out of the ordinary.

Little short fused, this morning?

Perhaps a few minutes of prayer would help.

And, maybe an apology, because how are you going to attend this or any other Mass, without first making amends with your brother before bringing your gifts to the altar as Christ commanded in scripture?

Peace and all Good!

I, too, thought it was self-explanatory. What kind of answer do you expect from people who don’t go to your parish? Why not call one of the Knights in your parish?

I beg your pardon, but I did not give you a smart *** answer. To me, it was self-explanatory, as I stated, and then I gave you the explanation. I am sorry you interpreted it in such an uncharitable way.

I didn’t know if this was a local thing or something that many parishes do and I have never heard of it.

And no it isn’t just a regular mass centered around the deceased. That is what we did on all souls day and we don’t have Tuesday evening masses.

I think a lot of guys turn people off with arrogant comments when resopnding to people asking a simple question.

maybe you just have a hard time expressing yourself through text but you appear to be pretty arrogant

But you said it was to occur in your parish. Was it in the bulletin or announced from the pulpit? Either way, there would be someone right there to ask. You could even have called the parish office; I’m sure the secretary would have been able to tell you about the Mass.

She’s not arrogant.
Please refrain from personal remarks.
Check the forum rules.
Thanks, and I hope you can find out what it is. A call to the Parish office would be good.

This Mass must be a nation-wide event. In my parish bulletin, it says:

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MEMORIAL MASS

All Brother Knights from Councils #12423 and #4102 are invited to our Memorial Mass at St. Stanislaus Church, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. [there is a Tuesday afternoon Mass every week] After Mass there will be a light meal served for members and their families in the Parish Center.

I, too, think the phrase “call to Mass” is probably an “inside” phrase to the Knights, to summon them to assemble for Mass. There are ceremonies and formalities in the KofC and I would suspect that “call to Mass” is an invitation to all of their members to be there.

Quite right. Yes. This must be it.
Thanks.

true. But another option was to ask this board. I guess that was a mistake. Sorry for the inconvience everyone.

While I have never heard it referred to as “Call to Mass”, I know that once a year, usually in November, our Knights of Columbus have a Mass to remember deceased knights. Afterwards, they host a dinner for the widows.

I may have been a little hard on you, but lately I’ve been annoyed by the posters who ask questions like, Why did Fr. X say this? Why do other people do X, Y, Z? What is heaven like? Why hasn’t God answered my prayers? Is this person in hell?

How in the world could anyone here know?

And then there are the super-simple questions that one could find the answers by looking in the Catechism, Googling, or - as in your case - asking someone in your home parish.

And I almost forgot all those poor people asking if this or that little thing is a sin. I feel sorry for them, but I do get tired of their constant focus on themselves.

I think it’s time for me to take another break from Catholic Answers. 😃
