If it was a joke it was in very bad taste, if it wasn’t a joke then I would say it was gossipy.

That being said, this is all on the assumption that the priests in question got the message in the first place. As we can not be toally sure about that I think it is wrong for us to denigrate their character in this way.

And even if they did get the message or they were spoken to directly, if they said they were busy or they havn’t called back as of yet it is still wrong for us to assume that they are being deficient in their job as we do not know what other calls on their time they have.

This just makes me sick that people automatically assume that when a priest is not at their beck and call that they are somehow not doing their job.
I agree with all of the above.

ByzCath is correct. The tide of resentment towards priests needs to change.
We all need to look at the big picture and realize that priests can spread themselves just so thin. Sometimes they make mistakes and sometimes they need correction. There is no sense on ruffling our feathers about their inequities. Look at any many we commit?
Did it really ever hurt any of us to find a new parish and priest that could better suit our needs? Did a little patience ever hurt?

Nope!
The best thing I ever did!

A few years ago I came under intense conviction to confess my sins as I hadn’t been to confession for about fifteen years. My previous diocese had downplayed the importance of confession and the seriousness of sin. Unfortunately I worked every Saturday and was unable to go to regularly scheduled Saturday confession.

I called my parish office and they made an appointment for me to confess to our priest that afternoon. Our priest is very busy, our parish is large, but he took the time to hear my confession and my life and faith have never been the same.

I would say to keep trying till you find a priest who is willing to find the time for this much neglected sacrament.
