Learn to lean on the grace of GOD through his son lord JESUS for we are weak and the enemy advances against us at times and we are overwhelmed to say the least. Stand strong in your faith and allow GOD and JESUS his son to guide you on the right path. They are whom you can trust and abide in for…

"Do not put your trust in men, but in GOD whom is eternal and our father in heaven the creator. In order to reach the father in heaven however;

**John 14:6

**Ephesians 6:12

New King James Version (NKJV)**

12* For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.*

There is but one power in existence and that is GOD the heavenly father and his son; the heir to the throne… lord JESUS and all bow down to that name.

Seeking power is not living wisely; we are to live wisely by humbling ourselves before GOD and offer him our thanks. If I sought out the presidency; it would not be for power, it would be to help people. To help establish unity within our nation of people and bring peace as GOD wills it and understanding that GOD grace through his son lord JESUS might enable me to give love unto others by securing a healthy society in our nation and help our neighbors by loving them as well.

Seeking out power, fame and fortune is not walking in the spirit, but in the flesh nature which we have been advised to avoid.

Praise be to GOD the heavenly father and his son lord JESUS CHRIST forever>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Right, exactly, and that is why I am getting flack. If I had said, “Called to have a large family; also called to be a priest; also called to be a carpenter.” then nobody would have said anything. But say the word president, and the assumption is that you are power and have a big ego.

But who knows, my ego is probably bigger than it should be, so there is likely truth in that. We can never become too humble.

I feel a strong calling to get married and have a very large family. How could I have a family and then take that first step of becoming a priest, when married men cannot currently become priests in the Latin church?

And beyond that, I feel called to be a prolific filmmaker and singer. I also feel strongly called in prayer to be President for 3 terms-something that is also impossible under current law (putting the unlikeliness of such a scenario aside)

I am praying the Rosary and other forms of prayer, and rather than getting rid of these silly ideas, these convictions are just growing stronger. I feel like a crazy person, like I am overambitious with some sort of thirst for power. Please don’t laugh at me, criticize me, or put me down- but please do help me to shed some light on this. I have kept this secret and I think the best thing to do is to get it out in the open.

Summary: 1. I feel called to both have a large family and to become a priest in the Latin church, which is currently impossible. 2. I am terrified that God may have very big plans for me that are bigger than I ever wanted, hoped for, cared about, or know what to do with. Any help or suggestions would be most welcome. I am 23 years old. Thank you.
You could be the next Ronald Reagan, if you drop the “priest” bit. 😃

Seriously, though, if you’re keen on directing or music, do you have any previous experience with either? What are your specific talents? Pick a single target and work on it. Too many plans often lead to confusion and indecision.

Oh gosh, I have watched hours of Ronald Reagan. And beyond that, just imagine a Roman Catholic deacon in the White House, what a sense of calm and peace that would bring to everyone, knowing a man of God was overseeing things.

Yes, I have a lot of experience directing and have been involved in music since age 4. I’m currently trying to do both- directing the movie and being in charge of the movie music. Obviously this is a difficult industry to break into, so I am currently employed as music director at a church, currently posting from my office here.

I should add that while there is intellectual confusion (how is this possible? who do you think you are?) there is a sense of deep-down peace when I think about the coexistence of all 3 of those things in my life: 1. Very large family and deaconate 2. President, 3. Priest
I think you have the right idea and the right order: if you start with the very large family–find a wonderful woman with a large income, a good sense of humor who loves your vision, And you need a good income too–you’ll need it if you want a singing and filmmaking career while being a deacon. Then you dabble in a little politics–by then some of your kids might be able to work for your campaigns–and you might become President and serve one or two terms…years later when all the kids have left home, your wife might die before you die and you can enter the priesthood.

I can’t say that I have heard of such a person but I have heard of persons who have lived certain sections of that dream, not always with a specific dream. Sometimes life happens and sometimes amazing lives happen without much planning…just circumstances.

There are lots of IFS but that is life: IF you find the right woman, IF she can have or adopt many kids, IF you both have enough income to take care of your kids AND have careers and run a campaign, IF the church is OK with your other commitments while in the diaconate, IF you make it to the presidency, and IF your wife dies before you die…This is how we live. IF.

You have and hold dreams, go for them with great love and faith and watch the realities unfold around you. “Life is what happens while you wait for life to happen.” And those lives are very interesting.

Be sure to let your fiancée know your plans. If she laughs but still takes you seriously, she is the one. OR what if she wants the presidency? Would you laugh and take her seriously?

Here’s a few more ideas:

Some priests who are married to God, have had to raise children: refugees, orphans, or their orphaned relatives. Some priests have run for office, a few have held office, not the presidency yet. Some priests make movies–I know at least two. Many are good singers.

I know a few people who are married parents who spent a few years in monasteries, convents, then they left because they were not right or able to take the final vows. They did not join with the intention of leaving, mind you; their hearts were initially focused on being married to God.

Also, some filmmakers have raised families and made movies about singers, priests, (or singing priests) and presidents…

Read Barbara Sher’s books: Wishcraft and its sequel. She has some very level advice on living your dreams.

To paraphrase G.K. Chesterton-We must dream big and pray big and watch God unfold His plans in our dreams. We do not map out our dreams in square inches, that is God’s work.

Keep dreaming and pay attention to realities in an honorable way.

Life is full of choices. We cannot do everything that we might wish. Becoming a priest is the highest vocation a man can have. I would suggest exploring and discerning that while you are still young.

Wow; what an insightful post. Here is what I do know: I must get married. That is a non-negotiable for me.

There are two ways that I could turn out to become a priest in spite of this: 1. Death of spouse, or 2. A change of church rules. Therefore, until one or the other happens, I should forget about being a priest.

As for music and movies- I’m working on that currently.

As for the deaconate- that’s off the table until I get married.

As for the presidency- that’s off the table until age 35 and even then, I need to humble myself extremely and discern carefully before undertaking such an expensive, time-consuming, and tiring journey.

In conclusion, the only things I should be worried about now are: 1. Succeed in my chosen industries of film and music, and 2. Find a good wife

Study to become the principal and music/theatre director in a Catholic school, study to become a deacon and get married.

This way, you get the authority and power, creativity, and a religious vocation as well as a wife. The students can stand in for your large family until that happens. Do something great with the students and perhaps obtain an invitation to the white house.😉

I’m curious why you think a PRACTICING Catholic can or should be president of the United States.

JFK was only elected because he divorced his faith from his public life which has caused tremendous damage to the church and state issues

I think a practicing Catholic would do a lot of good as president. I would never do anything in public office that contradicted my faith. When two choices had to be made that both caused harm, I would choose the one with the least amount of damage. People would know where I stood with respect to the Catholic Church and would either vote for me or not.

Agreed that JFK was a philanderer and not a good Catholic-cannot believe he is on the half dollar.

You come across as either very enthusiastic or very egocentric. You might be mistaking your own plans and desires for God’s. It’s easy to do, trust me.

As such I would argue that you could not be elected. Despite as much good as I would hope a Catholic leader could do.

But more importantly. As Catholics we should not be seeking wealth, prestige, power. We should be striving to be Saints not presidents.

Think of our current pope, or St Martin de Porres, or Bl Mother Teresa.

The prominence of these people was due to their very humble service to God. Not because they sought to be a Powerful leader.

Agreed that sainthood is the ultimate goal.

But sainthood means obedience to God’s will. And suppose this really is my calling, leaving power out of it, and God really has indicated to me that I need to prepare myself for this role. Would it be wise to ignore it when it keeps coming back in prayer?

I think if that was the case then somehow you could go from being involved in local ministry to the presidency.

If you start with seeking to be president then you start on the wrong foot.

Perhaps you are involved in charity and catholic missions works and at some point become in charge of a national organization and then people start urging you to run for public office due to your prominence of doing God 's work.

On a bit of a side.

God will not call you to contradictory vocations. As you have described. This is a sure sign your own ambitions are involved.

God will call you to one vocation. If he desires a change of vocation at some point he can but that will be on him, when you least expect it and in a way you could never plan.
