Calling anyone who knows Greek and/or Syriac

One the apoligetics thread called “how can people believe that Peter is the rock and still be Catholic” some protestants are insisting very strange things about what is written in the Greek and Syriac version of Matthew 16:18. I have given them the truth as best I know how and given them all the grammar that I know but they still deny all of it.

I was hoping that someone who knows Syriac or Greek, especially native speakers, would come over and assist us in this so that it isn’t just English speakers who don’t really KNOW the langauge that well.

Any help will be amply appreciated.

I’ll take a look. In the meantime here’s the Aramaic/Syriac:

ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܕܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܥܠ ܗܕܐ ܟܐܦܐ ܐܒܢܝܗ ܠܥܕܬܝ ܘܬܪܥܐ ܕܫܝܘܠ ܠܐ ܢܚܤܢܘܢܗ

and the Greek:

καγω δε σοι λεγω οτι συ ει πετρος και επι ταυτη τη πετρα οικοδομησω μου την εκκλησιαν και πυλαι αδου ου κατισχυσουσιν αυτης
