Calling priests "Father"

It is my understanding that we call our priests “Father” because St. Paul did so. I thought he said this in one of his letters to te Corinthians, but I could not find it. What is the Bible citation for this? Moreover, is this the reason?
 
The verse from Paul’s letters that you are looking for is as follows:

“I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel” (1 Cor. 4:14–15).
