I was talking with my mom about how it seems one of my teachers is impatient. Now, would this be considered detraction, or is detraction telling about someone’s actions?

Try to be careful about the way you frame someone else’s actions. For example, if you meant that your teacher is impatient in general, then consider the teacher’s perspective. If you mean to say that your teacher was impatient today, or had a moment of impatience, then be sure not to paint them with a broader brush of “my teacher is impatient”.

Ask a priest honestly. I think there are worse words to describe someone than impatient. If your conscience convicts you, then listen.

But, something may be true but may also damage someone else’s good name.
Sometimes a teacher’s patience can wear thin, but when that happens, a trained teacher will do something else usually. I think a certain amount of impatience from time to time is probably justified. Putting a label on somebody as such, though, can be damaging and hurtful.
