Here in sweden they delay a lot for recieving somebody into the church, God has plenty of time they say.

It can take 3 years or more if somebody wants to convert or getting baptized.
3 years is far too long. In Scotland it usually takes abot 6-8 months.

I experienced some of your friendliness first hand when I said I liked to have the priest face me during the consecration

It was underwhelming…I never tried to push my views on anyone and I was respectful of others opinions:confused:
Which monster here is the “martyr comment” directed at?

Yes in my opinion too and i know as i am joining the church and i am on my second year now, if i am lucky i will get baptised the next easter not this one.

What is the Church’s official stance on people who attend SSPX services? I’m under the impression that it is wrong, if not sinful to attend a SSPX Mass in lieu of or an “actual” Catholic Mass if one is available.

You’re getting the impression a lot of people get. Fortunately it’s the wrong one!

Put another way, did you ever wonder why the more liberal anything-goes “liturgical celebrations” aren’t met with the hostility that the Mass of all ages is? Tell they you’re going to a hindu-buddhist-shinto-humanist-secularist healing service and you’re a-Ok. tell that same person You’re going to an SSPX chapel to a valid Tridentine Mass and suddenly you’re schismatic.

Long story short to anyone interested in tradition: Go. From there the Holy Ghost will guide you. I spent too much time in my life as Catholic in name only falling in and out of faith. It wasn’t until I discovered tradition (or rather, God grabbed me by the collar) that everything fell into place.

I’m sorry, I didn’t answer your question. I think they use the term “valid but illicit” or something to that effect. Basically their standpoint is about as clear as Gaudium et Spes, they consistently emphasize the fact that SSPX Masses are valid, but depending on who you ask you’ll get a different interpretation of what they mean by “illicit”. From what I gather it centers around “we’d like you to go to a diocesan Mass, but if you can’t well, OK”

That being said, attending an SSPX chapel is in no way whatsoever a sinful act. The last thing that should prevent anyone from going to an SSPX Mass should be Rome’s stance on the status of their laity. Why? because people who attend SSPX chapels are Catholics. Nothing more, nothing less, they simply choose the Traditions and teaching of 2000 years over the novelties and confusion of the past 40.

It’s sinful to attend the a Mass celebrated by an SSPX priest only if you’re attending with the intent to defy the Pontiff. Otherwise, there’s nothing wrong with it.
