Hi,

I was reading the book The Millionaire Mind on the plane today (traveling for work) and I thought of your post regarding your son and college. Would have posted on that thread, but it has kind of died.

Anyway, you might enjoy reading it. It talks about entrepreneurship and the fact that many successful people either didn’t go to college, went but didn’t get good grades, didn’t score well on the SAT, etc. Most were average in school, or worse. Many were told they would never amount to anything. They all had failures that helped shape them and “toughen” them up to be successful competitors in the world of commerce.

T Harv Eker? Don’t get sucked into his system. The T stand for “The” BTW.

I know people that have taken equity out of their homes in order to go on his intensive courses. 2 weeks and $16,000 poorer they still didn’t know how to build a business.

Uh, no. I don’t know who that is or what program you are talking about.

I am referring to the book by Thomas J Stanley, PhD. He isn’t selling anything.

Phew - there’s a huckster who sells a system and he wrote a book also called the “Millionaire Mind.” I went to a couple of his seminars, and after 30 minutes he would stop speaking and start selling his programs.

Hi there! Thanks for thinking of me! Funny you should mention that book, my husband has it and pointed out a few things to me just a couple of weeks ago. I have 3 other books in process at the moment but I do plan to read it at some point.

I think the idea that everyone MUST even go to college has been a dismal failure. When I graduated high school, the push for higher education was in its infancy. You could still get a decent job and work your way up, without a degree (although it helped in many fields). Between then and now, we reached the decision as a society that EVERY kid must go to college, even if he or she is not particularly suited to academics. It’s depressing, because our younger son could be one of those people, yet, we can’t just tell him NOT to bother with college! Darned if you do, darned if you don’t.

I figure if he is going to succeed, he will do so in spite of college.

😉
