I’m assuming they’re from debt collectors. He ran himself hugely into debt.
I was advised some time ago not to give them any information, regardless of the fact that he did run up this debt and owes them.
What I dislike about these calls is they sometimes start asking questions about me. The one I just received wanted me to pass on a message, gave me the name and phone number, with no indication of who he really is, if he’s with a company, or why he’s calling, but wanted to know who he’s speaking to–presumably trying to get at my relationship to XH.
What is the best response to these phone calls? I had nothing to do with this debt, he got the cards behind my back and went out of his way to hide them. We have absolutely nothing to show for all that debt, so I have no idea what it was spent on. And all the debt was given to him in the divorce, as they were his cards. But I’ve been told that there are legal loopholes in which a company could potentially come after me (although I think that might be only if my name had been on the cards, which it wasn’t.)
