Sure it does since the Pope can agree with Martin Luther on Faith Alone. 😃
Have you actually read what the Pope said? He doesn’t agree with Luther on the issue, he feels that Luther agrees with Catholic teaching.

Are you trying to say that I am not united to Christ by being a Protestant?
are you doing all He commanded us to do?

Of course I read the entire link several times about justification by faith alone as understood by Pope Benedict. It’s really not so much about Luther, but rather about Apostle Paul’s teaching on justification by faith according to half of the New Testament. The Pope sounds so Pauline in his theology, one might confuse him to be a Protestant theologian. 😃 I bet if you removed the Pope’s name and all the sources to show that it’s a Catholic source and posted it on Catholic Answers and a Protestant Forum site, more Protestants would receive the teaching and more Catholics would reject it. You guys know that I know that that’s true. 🙂 Sola Fide will lead to Soli Deo gloria (“glory to God alone”) !

Pope Benedict clearly explains that the works of the Law, that is the Torah, do not save. The torah and all of it’s rules which the pharisee commanded do not save. What he did not say was faith alone saves.

He is very clear that faith must include love and charity, works. He gives a list of works that make up love and charity. This is no different than the Catholic Churches teachings since the 1st century.

Your attempts to paint it any differently is truly misleading. You know it and so does everyone else that has read the document.

Regarding your views on the sufficiency of Christ, do you feel that Christ’s death paid everything and that nothing else is needed for justification?

If so, what is true faith that activates salvation?

What happens when one walks with God for a period of time and then rejects God, is Christ’s death sufficient to keep that person saved?

How do you interpret James 2:24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

The Eucharist is the one thing that we as Christians will gather round. As the world closes in around us and draws Christians out of it, we need as solution. Jesus in His infinite wisdom left us the one thing we can use as a weapon to combat the present day evil that confronts us daily.
So how we as present day Christians deal with the evil of the secular world that confronts us on a daily bases? I know what Christ would say.Jesus said in the gospels that he would be with us till the end of time. How did Jesus chose to do this? Easy! The Eucharist! His Body and Blood!
We as Christians must take this weapon and battle the force of secular atheism and those who wish to see the Christian way fall to the way side. With the Eucharist none can stand! For it is Jesus His self,so whom can stand?

No, because if I did all that God commands with the right heart, I would be sinless. Do you believe that you are doing all that God commands us to do for one day?

Catholics and protestants cannot understand each other. we speak different language. trust me, it is true.

we might be reading the same thing but with a different understanding. that cannot be a pleasant dialogue between two people who have different beliefs when the other just want to talk and never listen. when protestants learn how to listen, perhaps some good will come out of it.
