Besides, everyone likes soup! Lesbian or not, wouldn’t you like the kids to get a nice hot winter meal of tomato soup and maybe a grilledcheese? Relaaax, guys, Heck, were the ladies smooching? And even if they were, maybe they were sisters, ever think of that? This isn’t ‘supporting the horrible gay agenda’ but supporting parental warmth and good nutrition. You CAN stand by that, can’t you? Not everyone’s just like you- wasn’t so long ago at all that black people got the same treatment, but family is as family does. Show a little love and charity, in this of all times of year.

Besides,I’d be amazed to see any kid get away with naughtiness if they’ve got two loving, sharpeyed moms, heh.

Yes, that’s why black people overwhelmingly support gay marriage … er … wait a minute … actually they overwhelmingly reject gay marriage. At least here in California (remember Proposition 8?).

And Christians used to be crucified for enjoyment. Do not forgot that God hears the cries of the afflicted and that the greater the suffering the greater the reward.

That is unless you are suffering out of something unholy which homosexuality is.
You show a definite lack of Catholic teaching. Would like like to learn?

It use to be against the law for black people and white people to go to the same school, or eat in the same restaurant or share the same water fountain.
And we passed civil rights laws to end it. However, segregation is not intrinsically evil as the homosexual act is.

Lucky for me I like Tomato Basil soup more than Crack. 😛

Seriously, you need to lighten up. If you are going to boycott any and every product that has ever advertised in a manner that might attract someone who does something that is morally objectable, or has someone who is might be morally objectable working for them, you are going to starve to death, in the cold, and the dark.

Lighten Up.
I cannot boycott everything. However, there are a few things that make it to the top of my list and others that agree. Boycotts work.

Actually the USCCB voters guide did list racism as intrinsically evil. Civil rights laws helped but racism is far from ended.

I didn’t say racism. Today in Chicago there is an all black school where the students are performing better than in an integrated school. Should this be against the law?

I can remember when it was a “sin” for a white person and a black person to get married. Back then people could find Bible quotes to support it too.
Provide one source where the Catholic Church EVER officially taught that it was a sin for a black person and a white person to marry.

Hmm. Now I would be a little tiffed possibly if such an ad were placed in Family Circle, or Woman’s Day, etc. The ad was placed in a magazine specifically geared towards homesexuals- correct?

Then, their agenda would be to sell soup to that demographic by giving them a pleasing image that reflects what their household my look like. Not to normalize the image by placing it in a mainstream magazine. Just my 2 cents.

I think it’s great that Campbell’s is acknowledging that families come in all sorts of different configurations. But it’s unfortunate that so many people who claim to embrace God’s love spew hatred towards others, and seek to encourage intolerance and fear.

How nice it would be if Christians and Catholics – people of all faiths, really – chose love instead of hate. And despite the efforts of hatemongers like Donald Wildmon, love seems to be slowly winning out anyway. An October poll conducted by Faith in Public Life found that 30 percent of Catholics agreed that “gay couples should be allowed to marry,” rising to 47 percent when the question is framed by the insistence that “no church or congregation would be required to perform marriages for gay couples.”

In other words, “I may not believe that my church should consecrate it, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be allowed.” That’s what’s meant by “tolerance” – it may not have a place in your church, but that doesn’t mean it’s not acceptable for others. Hopefully, that’s a step toward “I believe God loves us all, and that it’s great when people find love, no matter where they find it.”

We should celebrate happy families, whether in soup commercials or in real life. I feel sorry for anyone who sees images of a family and immediately hates them because their family is different from their own narrow idea of how others should live. That doesn’t strike me as very Christian.

Merry Christmas.
Well said.

A good number of Catholics do not attend weekly Mass, too. They call themselves Catholics but are also known as cafeteria catholics for they pick and choose what they believe. Right now they have swallowed the secular materialistic philosophies hook line and sinker.

How did you see the ad anyways? What were you doing reading The Advocate?

Should it be against the law? As private schools, no probably not. As public schools…well there have been problems with separate but equal. I don’t think going back to racial segregation in public schools is a step in the right direction.

Thank you for alerting us to this. I just sent them an e-mail through the AFA. I will be boyotting the Campbell Soup company until they cease supporting the gay agenda.

They can’t. It’s just one of those stock replies they’re taught to use without thinking… just like “well what about divorce?”, etc…

Yeah I would love to be educated. My statement was in context that it is silly to draw lines between racial serration and homosexuality. Just so much is that it is silly to compare earlier Christian crucification to the so called persecution of homosexuals.

If a person is persecuted because they are homosexual for defending homosexuality they will be blessed by God? Is that what you are implying?

Through their labels program Campbells has helped fund lots of money towards Catholic school improvements too.

Does this mean it is pushing a “Catholic agenda”. Should all protestants boycott for this reason?

I’m just saying that I doubt the company really cares one way or another about homosexual sex.

My guess is that they want to sell soup.
I’m thinking the same thing. I buy Starbucks and shop at Target, too. I guess I’m a terrible Catholic?

Look, I would love to buy all organic stuff that supported Catholicism, pro-life, anti-poverty, anti-torture, fair trade, etc, etc, etc. You know what the problem is? As a college student and waitress, I don’t have that kind of money!

And while I agree that homosexual actions are a sin, if you don’t think people get persecuted, you are dead wrong. I’ve read way too many news accounts where people get killed for this. Yes, it’s THIS that they get killed for. Even if a guy acts less than “masculine” or a girl acts less than “feminine”, they still get beaten in schools for supposed homosexuality. Is that the example we want our kids to see? That it’s OK to do that to people? I’ll admit, I don’t care what the law does about this, etc because it doesn’t impact a person’s right to live or marry whomever they want. The US government is a secular entity and not the right organization to start caring about the effects of either personal or original sin.

You’re absolutely right. When Jesus had mercy and compassion on sinners, He told them to “Go and embrace tolerance”.

No, He told them to “Go and sin NO MORE”. Yes, God loves all of his children so much that He wants them to live as He taught them so that they will be able to join Him in heaven someday.

We are not doing our brothers and sisters in Christ any favors or helping them get to heaven by embracing and “tolerating” a lifestyle which is clearly condemned in the Bible. Loving them and being kind to them is quite different than accepting and tolerating their sins. (The same applies to those that are heterosexual and living together/fornicating, or any other sin for that matter.)

People often quote Matthew 7 on this, but neglect to read the rest of the passage:
“Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye”

There are many people who try to live a good life, attend Mass and go to confession in order to “remove” that wooden beam. When they are able to “see clearly”, they should be able to guide their brothers in the right direction so that their brothers are not sinning, either.
