Yeah I would love to be educated. My statement was in context that it is silly to draw lines between racial serration and homosexuality. Just so much is that it is silly to compare earlier Christian crucification to the so called persecution of homosexuals.

If a person is persecuted because they are homosexual for defending homosexuality they will be blessed by God? Is that what you are implying?
Is there anyone advancing the argument that racism is right?

There are people advancing the argument that the homosexual act is right, and that we should not just tolerate it but embrace it and teach it to our kids that it is just great.

And while I agree that homosexual actions are a sin, if you don’t think people get persecuted, you are dead wrong. I’ve read way too many news accounts where people get killed for this. Yes, it’s THIS that they get killed for. Even if a guy acts less than “masculine” or a girl acts less than “feminine”, they still get beaten in schools for supposed homosexuality. Is that the example we want our kids to see? That it’s OK to do that to people? I’ll admit, I don’t care what the law does about this, etc because it doesn’t impact a person’s right to live or marry whomever they want. The US government is a secular entity and not the right organization to start caring about the effects of either personal or original sin.
Yes unfortunately there is still a great deal of hate and violence against those who are gay or suspected to be gay. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual sex is sinful, but it does not condemn a person for having a same-sex attraction if they do not act out on it. It also teaches that all people, including those with a homosexual orientation are to be treated with love, dignity and respect. It is possible to speak out about God’s true design for sex as within the sacrament of marriage between husband and wife without being violent or hateful to those who are struggling with this issue. Such violence would be sinful.

While I would not go out of my way to support or lobby for such, to be honest I don’t see much direct threat to my own marriage if the state allows gay couples who are already living together anyways and already committing sins anyways to enter into civil partnerships with the same legal benefits as marriage. Many heterosexual couples enter into civil marriages that are not sacramental. As far as political issues I think there are more important issues to focus on.

That said, I do believe there is more to marriage in a religious sense as a sacrament is intended as a between men and women. I don’t think that the Catholic Church should give its blessing to same-sex marriages. I would be very concerned if laws mandated that the Catholic church had to perform and endorse same-sex marriages or lose the privileges to perform marriage or lose tax-exempt status. I would be very concerned if priests and ministers were not allowed to state their moral position on homosexuality. However separation of church and state should protect the church and allow churches to decide for themselves about the spiritual aspects of marriage even if the state chooses to give legal privileges to same sex couples.

The Catholic Church and Natural Law as well as logic agree with me. Care to take anyone of these on?
I most certainly would! When you have the truth of Scripture, it’s historical context, it’s original language, and the biblical facts on your side, I can absolutely assure you that I would be more than willing to take anyone of “these Traditions of man” on. You and they don’t intimadate me in the slightest, buffalo!

I’m sorry but the evidence is to the contrary. All one has to do is look at the history of how different attempts have been made throughout the history of bible translations to see that this is not so. In 1. Cor. 6:9, you will find that when the dishonest term “homosexual” began to infect the scriptures, it took on the form “homosexual” with no other qualifiers before it or after it to distinguish that it was only talking about practicing homosexuals, as you claim. Later, different translations attempting to modiy their alteration used terms like “those who practice homosexuality”, “homosexual offenders”, “those who participate in homosexuality”. In fact if you look at the New King James Version, you will find that it uses the clearly dishonest and unscriptural term “sodomite.” This in itself is interesting, because if one presumes the false assumption that Sodom was destroyed because of homosexuality, the interesting thing is nowhere in Genesis or Jude is their any mention of “homosexual sex”, as you termed it. So in subscribing to what you wrote, you would have to conclude that Sodom got destroyed, not because of “homosexual sex” but rather for same-sex attraction. And that would clearly contradict your reasoning. When you look at the way people with a same-sex orientation have been treated throughout the ages, and consider the influence the Catholic Church has had within it’s historic writings in molding the prejudices towards gays, the warped imagery that the Christian society has regarding homosexuality is in every way influeced by the Catholic Church and its representatives. I’m sorry but your post above grossly distorts and oversimplifies the history between Catholicism and homosexuality, regardless of the current rhetoric of today’s Cathecism.

Before you lay out tired arguments here they are thoroughly refuted.

Refuting Homosexuals who Use the Bible to Defend Homosexuality

Well, let’s just see how tired my “arguments” are, shall we? I’ll start with Sodom and Gomorrah. At what point in history did the Catholic church associate this story with homosexuality?
It was understand all the way through. Everyone knew and knows the anus is not a sex organ.

Here are the first “Catholic” pronouncements.

Rom 1;27 - called unnatural, shameful, and a perversity
1Cor 6:9 - active homosexuals won’t inherit kingdom of God
1Tim 1:9-10 - those who engage in such acts called sinners

You did not answer my question!!!
So I will ask it again along with a new one:
At what point did the Catholic church associate Sodom and Gomorrah with homosexuality? And to take it a step further, at what point in history did any religion associate this story with homosexuality, including the ancient and chronologically closer Jews?

"Now I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fully informed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels that did not keep their own position but left their proper dwelling have been kept by him in eternal chains in the nether gloom until the judgment of the great day; just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 3-7)

I’m not entirely sure I follow your response. I agree with you that the Sodom passage in the Old Testament is not very clear that sex between two people of the same sex is what was targeted. However there are other biblical passages that are much more direct.

I think that sometimes people have a hard time viewing homosexuality in a way that separates attraction from behavior. I think having a same sex attraction or “being homosexual” is often something that a person has little control over. However we do have control over our actions. An unmarried heterosexual individual may “be heterosexual” but can make moral and immoral choices on when to engage or not to engage in sex. Likewise a homosexual has control over choice to engage or not to engage in sex.

I think that there has been distortion which has falsely been used to justify hatred and violence. I’m not saying that Catholics, among others, have not unfortunately been guilty in the past of sins of hatred and violence. We are human and prone to sin as much as anyone. However several years ago Pope John Paul II did speak out to remind Catholics that while the Church condemns homosexual actions we are to treat those struggling with same sex attraction with love and dignity and to love the sinner while hating the sin. I think this was a much needed correction in the right direction.

Once again, you are continuing to avoid my questions with noise. This is your choice and I obviously can’t force you not to. If you want to discuss Jude and its relevance to homosexuality fine, so do I. Afterall this is only another element of our overall discussion. But the fact that you are willing to try to divert from directly answering my so called “tired arguments”, shows just how effective they can be in getting to the truth of this homosexuality discussion. But since you brought up Jude, I will use this post of yours to again ask my two questions:
At what point in history did the Catholic Church began to use this scripture in relation to Sodom and Gomorrah and homosexuality? And since the Jews predate the writing of Jude, what evidence do you have that the Jews even associated the two cities with homosexuality too and not hospitality? After all according to the link you provided, the “obvious” homosexual condemnation is in Genesis, writings by Moses, with which the Jews would have been familiar with.

Would an example of a “more direct” passage be 1. Cor. 6:9 where some translators use the term “sodomite”?

Is there anyone advancing the argument that racism is right?

I noticed that but where do you take exception with my comments. Last time I checked we were on the same team.

My point is that if homosexuals are persecuted they do not receive the blessing a christian would for being persecuted, or the compassion of a person persecuted for the color of their skin.

I have answered right from the beginning with one citation. Perhaps I do not understand your question.

My guess is that Campbells is not so much interested in pushing a “homosexual agenda” but more interested in expanding their “marketing agenda” to potential buyers (gay or straight).

Yes homosexual sex is viewed by the Church as sinful. But gay people eat food too.
👍 great post

yes, here we go again! Absurd and ridiculas. I love Campbells soup and I will continue to buy it. I will drive a FORD, I will have a latte at Starbucks on occasion. I do shop at Wal-Mart. I will give to Susan Komen foundation if I wish to. I do buy greeting cards from Hallmark.

Geez louise…paranoia reigns supreme.

Did you post a response? Yes. Did you answer the question? Hardly! If you find the question hard to understand, then you’ll more than likely find the truth as preserved in scripture regarding “homosexuality” hard to understand as well. Despite this, this will not stop me from challanging the unscriptural falacies you present clothed in the garments of Catholic Teaching.

Then proceed. Make you affirmative case.

I’m not letting you off that easily. I want an answer to the two questions I posted. This is me proceeding to make my case. So please don’t try to get out of this by either taking the fifth or pleading insanity.

I will try my best.

Going back to Genesis - God made them male and female - the Bible, Jewish tradition and Catholic Tradition has stood on a monogamous relationship bearing children. Pagan arguments for homosexuality have been resisted since. Catholics take this totality of teaching as authoritative and Revealed. The fulfillment of Catholic marriage is the two becoming one flesh, consistent with God’s first command.

Let’s try to stay focused on the question okay? Right now, we are talking about homosexuality and Sodom and Gomorrah. You mentioned Jewish tradition. Well, my question is very simple: Did Jewish Tradition associate these cities with homosexuality like “Christians” today do?
