I realize you have a dog in this discussion. I don’t think you have characterized what I posted correctly. You have created a straw man to what I said. I quoted the bible. The bible says: If you have responded to inquiries many times over as you have done here than you have not responded. My comment was because of the link you posted which tries to say that homosexuality wasn’t involved at all. Which is not true. They also say that Jesus was condemning them for inhospitality which also was untrue. What was being condemned was they were unrepentant. Which of course raises the question of what did they need to repent of. The answer to that question is what you try to run from.
I am not even in the mood to go here again, not today. Believe what you want, and deny what you will. Facts are facts. Either you’ll acknowledge them or you won’t. But as for today and quite possibly the next couple of weeks, I’m done! Take care adrift!

No it does not affect the world at all. Even if marriage were legal for them, it still wouldn’t affect your life. Prejudism is a sin too.
I can remember when it was a “sin” for a white person and a black person to get married. Back then people could find Bible quotes to support it too.
I’ve heard this argument a million times and it’s always a ridiculous one. Regardless of what people said about interracial marriage, there is nothing, absolutely nothing from a Biblical point of view that is against it. And the natural law as well as common sense shows that a black woman and a white man can conceive a baby together. Since the heart and soul of marriage is pro-creation, this is in line with Godly living.

Homosexuality is a sin, pure and simple. It’s not the opinion of some popes in a smoke-filled room, it is extremely Biblical and part of the Judeo-Christian ethic of over 2,000 years. Sodomy is a sickening thought and hardly something God condones in scripture. Did you miss out on the whole Sodom and Gomorrah story? Or maybe you missed the Mosaic Law’s condemnation of it or perhaps St. Paul’s condemnation of it. And of course then there is 2,000 years of tradition against it not to mention our catechism and One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church teaches it is sinful.

I’m going to have to go with God, St. Paul, Moses, hundreds of Popes and not your opinion. You are informing your opinion based on the WORLD, not Christ. Jesus is not of this world. You are ‘going with the flow’ and living a lukewarm theology that looks at the only sins being nuclear war, murder and rape. It is the sign of a sinful society that only murder, kidnapping, molestation, and launching nukes constitutes a sin.

God DOES INDEED value our sexuality and there indeed ARE boundaries sexually that God places on us.

The Greeks and Romans were VERY MUCH given to homosexuality. Countless peoples in the classical age practiced homosexuality and bisexuality, including even Alexander the Great. THAT BEING SAID, nowhere ever during those ages did any Greek or Roman every even ponder such trysts and relationships to constitute a MARRIAGE. That would have been laughable.

These sins DO impact our culture. A morally depraved culture cannot stand. What people do in cover of darkness hurts us all. Intrinsic evil does hurt everyone. And the morally depraved state of the gay and lesbian agenda in America is pumping this filth into television, movies, cable, music, literature, billboards, you name it. Don’t tell me that it doesn’t affect our children and teens struggling with their own identities and sexuality.

Your position, the lukewarm one, is precisely what Jesus calls us NOT to be. We are to stand up firm for our Gospel, for our faith, and for our Church. Homosexuality is the gross perversion of the human condition. It is a diabolical mockery that makes the sublime beauty of marriage between a man and a woman (that is fruitful, healthy, loving, and God-intended) get counterfeited into a bastardized form between two men or two women doing disgusting things that can bear no fruit, only lust and a lost and broken form of love.

I encourage you to read the Catechism, read the Bible, read the fact that no religion be it Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, or even pagan religions have EVER allowed gay marriage until recently…something to ponder.

If you make your OWN soup, it is less expensive and better for you.
I have to agree with ya! Their soup is lousy anyway! It’s like boycotting Starbucks. I don’t drink coffee anyway! lol

Campbell’s Soup is full of preservatives and sodium up the wazzoo! Expensive, too!

In the December, 2008 and January, 2009 issues, Campbell Soup Company bought two, two-page advertisements in the latest issues of the nation's largest homosexual magazine, "The Advocate." The ads promote their Swanson line of broth.
In one of the December ads, the Campbell Soup Company highlighted the lives of two lesbians (according to their website, they are married) with their son. The others feature New York City chefs. See the ads here.
**Campbell Soup Company has openly begun helping homosexual activists push their agenda. Not only did the ads cost Campbell’s a chunk of money, but they also sent a message that homosexual parents constitute a family and are worthy of support. They also gave their approval to the entire homosexual agenda. **

I was resisting posting because I wanted this thread to just die out but since someone else brought it back up…

How does a gay couple’s lifestyle and their ability to share their lives together affect YOU? How does it affect your lifestyle? How would you have to change your life? It doesn’t. They aren’t hurting anyone, they aren’t stealing or killing anyone, nothing. It doesn’t affect your lifestyle at all. I’m do know it’s against the Catholic church, I am not arguing that at all. But my point is that it doesn’t hurt you at all. And guess what, even though folks around here don’t believe it,not everyone is a Catholic and not everyone follows Catholic teachings and they should not be chastized for it. And what happened to this separation of church and state thing that I learned about in grammar school social studies?

By that same token, it can be argued that other people committing incest and polygamy and pedophilia and rape and adultery don’t affect me personally either – but I’m still opposed to them.

I’m opposed to gay “marriage” for secular reasons as well as theological ones.
And what happened to this separation of church and state thing that I learned about in grammar school social studies?
Please show me where that phrase is in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. (Hint: you won’t find it.)

“Separation of church and state” is a favored *interpretation *of the Constitution. Interpretations are not infallible, nor are they perfect.

No, those things do affect you. They affect you indirectly but they affect you. They hurt someone, police have to be paid to arrest people, their trials take up court time, they have to be supported in jail. All of this hurts you because you have to pay with your tax dollars. Two gay people living together does not hurt you in anyway or raise your taxes anymore than if they live in their own household.

You are correct, it’s not in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. But Thomas Jefferson first mentioned it in a letter he was addressing to a religious group and it was adopted by the Supreme Court and has been used in judgments since that inception.

But no one has answered my question. How do two people of the same sex in a loving relationship affect a heterosexuals life?

When you are married in a heterosexual relationship with one of them. Not only does it affect the heterosexual person, but the children from that union as well.

That’s not an answer to my question. I asked how does a gay couple in a loving relationship affect your life.

I don’t think you understand -

when one of those ‘gay’ people happened to be my husband,** my life and my children’s lives** are affected -

does this make it simple enough for you?

No, I DID understand EXACTLY what you were referring to. I am asking how does two gay people in a loving relationship affect a heterosexual’s relationship. I am sorry a gay man married you because he felt like he couldn’t be open about his feelings thus making your life miserable. But if he had been in a gay relationship to start with no one would be affected.

Unfortunately you are wrong on this account as well - he was very open about his difficulties with me before we were married - we were aware of the difficulties involved Our life wasn’t miserable for the most part of it, in fact, we had a wonderful time for most of it and do so now again. His problems with SSA are symptomatic of early childhood trauma, something we weren’t aware of to begin with, but had our suspicions. When stresses of life come to bear on us, past traumas are often brought into play and this meant for him, as well as many others, a revisiting/replaying of that trauma that left an emotionally vunerable child unable to distinguish that he indeed was seeking the affirmation of men. Thankfully he ended up getting the right kind of help because he did want to remain married and continue to be the father of our children - this has been all possible because we have always been frank and open in our discussions. All it took was good psychology and real love for one another and a real underastanding and acceptance of faith. Real love isn’t just about sex - and let’s face it, soooo many men here have issues relating to sex, whether it be heterosexual or homosexual or homophobia -* and* I’ve never witnessed the HUGE amount of muscle flexing that goes on in this forum displaying this - please don’t tell me that has nothing to do with sex either!!! And yes, he would have been affected if he had chosen a ‘gay’ lifestyle, he has said himself that he would have never been happy because when he was unaware of the motives involved, he would simply be chasing experience after experience to satisfy the underlying emotional damage. And as I’ve said before, the Catholic Church gives you a choice - the gay community does not. They are guilty of assuming that just because someone might experience some SSA, they are branded as ‘gay’ and God help them if they ‘supress’ this - they are not being true to themselves!! And he knows this only too well - when involved with them, that was all they would say on the matter - it led him to near suicide - simply because he wanted to be straight and they were not there to help him with that at all!!! Coming back to his faith first and then the church, has helped him tremendously with this, as well as good pyschology.

To therefore answer your question, yet again, it does affect my life and that of my childrens and most importantly, that of my husbands, who never felt he wanted to choose being ‘gay’.

And frankly, I don’t buy tinned soup anyway - why have something artificial when you can have the real thing??? *I have!!! 😃

Again, I am sorry for your misfortune, I really am. But so far, no one, not even you, has been able to demonstrate how TWO gay people in a LOVING relationship hurts others in any way.

First of all two homosexuals are not in a loving relationship. This outlook comes because there are those who trying to change the concept of what a loving relationship is. It hurts everyone in society because it promotes sin. One man sinned and it effected his descendants. We have ignored the sin of adultery and fortification and it has greatly diminished society. This type of relationship is self centered. It leads others to believe that they can only think of themselves. That is what Cain did. He asked “am I my brothers keeper?” That question comes from the devil. The definition of love is being changed to our detriment. Love becomes a feeling only. Protections that were once in place are now gone because of so called equal treatment. This applies to all sins. It is like we are all in a giant swimming pool and someone P’s polluting the water. Sin pollutes us in the same way as that pool.

Gay marriage hurts and cheapens the institution of marriage by making it a sham and meaningless ceremony; i.e., nothing more than a public declaration of current (and perhaps temporary) love. Marriage is supposed to be a true and complementary partnership ordered toward the creation of stable families and the raising of children with a mother *and *a father.

Furthermore, you should read this article entitled "A Secular Case Against Gay Marriage. An excerpt:
The biggest danger homosexual civil marriage presents is the enshrining into law the notion that sexual love, regardless of its fecundity, is the sole criterion for marriage. If the state must recognize a marriage of two men simply because they love one another, upon what basis can it deny marital recognition to a group of two men and three women, for example, or a sterile brother and sister who claim to love each other? Homosexual activists protest that they only want all couples treated equally. But why is sexual love between two people more worthy of state sanction than love between three, or five? When the purpose of marriage is procreation, the answer is obvious. If sexual love becomes the primary purpose, the restriction of marriage to couples loses its logical basis, leading to marital chaos.

Again, I am sorry for your misfortune, I really am. But so far, no one, not even you, has been able to demonstrate how TWO gay people in a LOVING relationship hurts others in any way.
Firstly, if you view my relationship as misfortunate, then you are the one to be in the dark. I am the one who is most fortunate** now, as this has led me into a deeper faith with God AND a deeper relationship with my dh. I am not looking for your pity! I came here to simply answer your question which I feel I HAVE done - whether or not it’s the answer you want to hear seems to be more the point here.

I have answered from my personal life how it does affect me and others - are you into denial or something? Probably.😛

I know you are wrong. I know plenty of homosexuals who are in very loving relationships. Many of whom have been in very long term relationships. And although you might think it’s a sin, they don’t. And as I said before, it doesn’t affect anyone.
