Firstly, if you view my relationship as misfortunate, then you are the one to be in the dark. I am the one who is most* fortunate* now, as this has led me into a deeper faith with God AND a deeper relationship with my dh. I am not looking for your pity! I came here to simply answer your question which I feel I HAVE done - whether or not it’s the answer you want to hear seems to be more the point here.

I have answered from my personal life how it does affect me and others - are you into denial or something? Probably.😛
No, you have not answered my question. I said TWO gay people. You obviously aren’t gay. And you are the one who promoted it as a misfortune so that’s why I called it that.

Gay marriage hurts and cheapens the institution of marriage by making it a sham and meaningless ceremony; i.e., nothing more than a public declaration of current (and perhaps temporary) love. Marriage is supposed to be a true and complementary partnership ordered toward the creation of stable families and the raising of children with a mother *and *a father.
I don’t really agree with that because there are heterosexuals who make a mockery of marriage too. They just get married to get married and a year later they will divorce and marry someone else. I would call that a meaningless ceremony when they know they will just divorce a little while later.

I fully agree with you! However, the solution is not to declare marriage a meaningless institution and open it to two men, two women, a man and his biological sister, a man and his Doberman, etc. Rather, we should work on giving couples relationship help at all stages (before and during marriage, for example).

I know you are wrong. I know plenty of homosexuals who are in very loving relationships. Many of whom have been in very long term relationships. And although you might think it’s a sin, they don’t. And as I said before, it doesn’t affect anyone.
You BELIEVE I am wrong because you do not know what love is. Leading someone to hell is not love. Participation in homosexuality is lust not love. I can say that there is no sun just like they say there is no sin but it doesn’t make it true. Others have shown you how it does effect. Perhaps you missed this
The biggest danger homosexual civil marriage presents is the enshrining into law the notion that sexual love, regardless of its fecundity, is the sole criterion for marriage. If the state must recognize a marriage of two men simply because they love one another, upon what basis can it deny marital recognition to a group of two men and three women, for example, or a sterile brother and sister who claim to love each other? Homosexual activists protest that they only want all couples treated equally. But why is sexual love between two people more worthy of state sanction than love between three, or five? When the purpose of marriage is procreation, the answer is obvious. If sexual love becomes the primary purpose, the restriction of marriage to couples loses its logical basis, leading to marital chaos.

homoexuals sould be given the same opportunity to express their love for their partners by physical means as heterosexuals. IMO (not necessarily the opinion of the majority of my faith)

Valke, you think that marriage is the *only *way people can express love to one another?

It is the only way in which it can be done with the least amount of stigma. When you deny a couple the opporutnity to publicly commit to each other the same way others are allowed to do so, you make it more difficult for them to remain in a stable, loving relationship.

You don’t know me. How can you say that? What you said is very demeaning you have no right to say that. ANd what makes you an authority? And no, participation in a homosexual relationship is not just lust. There is love involved with a lot of couples I know. You should talk about things you know nothing about!

I can say it based on what you write. What gives you the write to limit my free speech? The demeaning part is what people do to each other. The act is demeaning. You are an authority? That is only said when you don’t have a legitimate argument. You base your opinion on a lot of people you know but you do not discern what true love is. If love was present, they wouldn’t participate in the everlasting damnation of someone they supposedly love. From this statement it is obvious you have no idea what love is. Just because you know people who are homosexuals does not mean you understand the difference between love and lust.

Your free speach does not include your “right” to insult me. You are just too close minded to understand that there are more kinds of love than man and woman. What about a mom’s love for her child? A child’s love for his/her mother.

Anyway, this topic is going no where. Some folks can chose to remain prejudice and close minded and nothing will change their minds and I am sick of pointing out the obvious.

I don’t think you understand -

when one of those ‘gay’ people happened to be my husband,** my life and my children’s lives** are affected -

does this make it simple enough for you?
Why are you complaining? It is people such as yourself who push people such as your husband to try to be something he’s not. You’ve heard the mantra: “Gays have the right to marry just as straights”. Well, he did, he married you. And now you seem to want to cry foul because of your distress. How selfish of you! According to the FALSE teachings of the Church, his choices were simple: change, forced celibacy, or marry the opposite sex. All are painful. Which would you choose?
Wanner47 said the purpose of a man woman relationship is to create stable families. Clearly, such an incomplete perspective of perferred denial fails to encompass the reality of sexual orientation. And unfortunately, as you have tradgically realized, her naive comment is left sorely lacking. The reality is, some are hetrosexuals and some are homosexuals, and dening either the right to a loving lifelong partnership is to not know unconditional love, the scriptures, or the potential heartache experienced by all parties.

I said it was A purpose. Not the only purpose.

Furthermore, your comments cause me to feel great pity for you. You truly have no idea about the true nature of love, marriage, or Jesus Christ.

I find it odd that Jesus Christ spoke of one man and one woman cleaving together to be one flesh, but strangely he never mentioned that two men or two women could do so as well. If homosexual relationships were so loving and wonderful and God-blessed as you say, then why not?

Homosexuals are free to express love to one another, in public or in private.

Valke, if people are unable to show love to one another before marriage, how on earth do people even date? Silly me, I thought love came before marriage, but you seem to say that love only comes *after *marriage – moreover, only after a marriage that is sanctioned by the state. What is your proof of this?

Also, Valke, what economic interest does the state have in letting people “show love” to one another via marriage?

All I have done is told you the truth which you cannot or will not understand. Love is doing the best for the person not the worst. It doesn’t matter if it is between a man and women, best friends mother/father and child or child and mother/father love remains doing the best not worst for them. The greatest love was Jesus death on the cross. You accuse me of insulting you and I don’t see an insult only the truth. Is it possible that the closed minded is you? Will you call this an insult too? Truth is hard to face.

I’m not, I simply answered a question put forth by noclevername.

Just ask my dh, he will tell you that I NEVER pushed him, it was ALWAYS his choice to marry and stay married. I just supported him (in the bad times:() and kept on loving him - because it’s never about sex alone!!
And now you seem to want to cry foul because of your distress.
I never have cryed ‘foul’ - I think you would like me to be doing so, but I am not, nor do I have a need to (perhaps sadness at the time would be more an appropriate term to use).
How selfish of you!
Oh that is so not true. When I was unclear as to what to do at the time, I took the road of popular truth that perhaps he did need to go and live a gay lifestyle to sort himself through this and I told him as much!🤷 I only wanted truth, I didn’t want to see him suffer so much (at that particular time). This is what real love requires.
He chose otherwise and now we see that would have been like throwing him to the lions to be devoured all over again.
According to the FALSE teachings of the Church,
Says you - if you don’t believe in these teachings as adamantly as you make out, why not leave? You always have a choice.

The reality is that he never wanted it - it took faith made of guts on his part to say I do - and guts to work his way through all of the past trauma that had led him into this lifestyle in the first place. Marriage was the sacrament that gave him the ability to do this, I totally accepted his orientation and in doing so, he was in a space where he did not have to go seeking for his identity. The road has been long, but not impossible. He actually was quite excited to give me a diamond eternity ring for our wedding anniversary last week - knowing full well he could give it out of the honesty of his love for me. When I discuss these conversations on here with him, he just tells me to let it go - unless a person wants to willingly change they will NEVER hear the TRUTH.

Excuse me?? Since when, in our fallen natures, have we been able to give unconditional love? That, my lad, comes from God alone. I also don’t know of one mature marriage that hasn’t been exposed to heartache. I think you need to learn about relationships and what they entail before you start speaking like this. If you’re expecting to find unconditional love in your partner, you are going to be in for a LOT of heartache.lol

I’m sorry that you’re appear to be so angry, my prior posts were simply answering a question. Just breathe!! for heaven’s sakes.

I’ll respond to both you and wanner47 when I have more time. Unfortunately, I don’t right now. Sorry.

I am soooo tired of the hate on this site.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Why are people so worried about homosexuals. Yes, it is against the Catholic religion but how does it hurt you specifically? It doesn’t. It doesn’t hurt anyone. And the argument is it’s a sin. Well, so is lying and stealing and not honoring your mother and father. And remember the “he who is without sin cast the first stone”? I think people need to focus their energy on things that really do hurt society like the homeless, child abuse and animal abuse and the economy. But two people of the same sex who love each other does not affect your life or anyone elses life in any way whatsoever so just leave it alone.
Wow, you have a great point!👍
