Hi,

If a priest were camping or hiking in summer or spring over a few days in a national park with a friend or two and wanted to celebrate daily Mass, what vestments would he bring?

Redemptionis Sacramentum is pretty clear on what is required for Mass.

For the priest it is an alb (optional cincture depending on the style of the alb), stole, and chasuble.

Most priests have a set of “travel” vestments. They are lightweight and easy to pack along with their travel kit which usually consists of a chalice, paten, crucifix, candles, holy water, and chrismating oil.

Even military chaplains are required to vest properly

I do believe that under extraordinary circumstances that the bishop may make exceptions, such as when on the front lines.
