God wants his children to live right more than they themslves want to. Jesus said to peter, '…satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have Prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not…" (Luke 22;31, 32). Jesus is just as concerned for us as He was for Peter. and is ever watching over us. we who are saved belong to Him. We are bought with a tremendous price. Our Saviour will not (as some teach) turn us over to Satan–nor will He allow a wayward child of God to “pluck himself” out of His hand. On the contrary, Philippians 1:6 assures us that “He which hath bagan a good work in (us) will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Also so in Hebrews 13;5 we read the precious promise "He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee".

Verve 35 of this passage ask the question "Who shall separate us from the lov of God?" In other word, after we have been truly born again, justified by faith (v. 33 ) and become Christains in the true sense od the word, after our names have been written in the Lambs book of Life (Rev. 21:27 who (or what) can separate us from Christ? Verses 38 and 39 of our passages give a direct, God-inspired answer to this question, complete and clear:
“Neither death, nor Life” shall separate us from the love of Christ. Nothing in life and nothing in death–or after death–can separate from Christ, "…nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, can separate us from Christ. When Christ rose from the grave He " spoiled principalities and power, He made a shew of them openly (Col. 2;15). The Bible makes clear the truth that the Lord Jesus Christ conquered death, hell and the grave. he defeafed Satan and his emissaries. In Revelations 1;18 the risen,glorified Christ declared, "I am he that liveth, and was dead and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen: and have the keys of hell and of death.
How comforting it is to know that Satan is a defeated foe!

Let me ask this. If you have a child that you love very much and they go out and murdere someone in cold blood, in spite of everything you taught them, would you stop loving them? Would you cut them off from your love?

If your child has to spend the rest of his natural life in prison because of this, who is to blame? Is it the judge who is sending him to prison or did he already send himself there?

We freely choose to condemn ourselves to hell long before God ever would. It is us who separate ourselves from God, not Him from us.

God allows this as not to violate the gift of free will He gave to us.

Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord” shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father who is in heaven.

My question is, does God save the unwilling - like the man who was a christian but is now an unrepentant athiest?

The question is flawed. One cannot lose salvation. Salvation isn’t something like loose change or car keys. It is the result of God’s sanctifying grace present in one’s heart and soul.

The correct question is, “Can a believer choose to throw his salvation away by engaging in gravely sinful behavior?”

The answer to this question is a most emphatic, “Yes.”

And the words of Christ Jesus and of the Apostles as recorded in Scripture are quite on this point.
