I am coming into the Church at Easter, and I wanted to know if I can choose someone who is beatified, not yet canonized, as my confirmation saint. I am interested in Bd. Elizabeth of the Trinity, specifically.
So far as I know, yes, a Blessed may be chosen for a confirmation saint. What might be a problem is including the Blessed in the litany of saints that is sung at the Easter Vigil (many parishes include the confirmands’ patrons in the litany). If that doesn’t bother you, and you are content that your patron be included in “all you holy saints of God,” then there shouldn’t be a problem.
