What answer would you give a soon-to-be bride and groom who wish to serve as extraordinary ministers of holy Communion at their own wedding?

That they should concentrate on being the bride and groom, and leave distribution of the Eucharist to others. I’m not merely being flip. The bride and groom are supposed to be administering the sacrament of matrimony to each other at their wedding. It would be better for them to spend time during Communion reflecting on that instead of worrying about distributing the Eucharist. And, on a more practical note, having the bride and groom be EMHCs is going to pose as a temptation to the congregants to congratulate the bride and groom when they go up to receive Communion. And that is not an appropriate time for congratulations.
