Can a catechumen be admitted to the minor orders?

We’ve had several people in the choir loft with us who were not Catholics or even Christian. One young man – an atheist – started singing with us at mass, and he found God through this participation. He was baptized and entered the Church some years ago, and he is now the choir director at my parish. 😃🎶

Our pastor was fine with this man being in the choir. Even though he is an amazing solo singer, he didn’t sing the Psalm from the altar, which really was the only opportunity to do anything other than just be part of the choir.

As others have said, it comes down to the pastor’s decision.
 
I say talk to your priest simply because it can vary at my church we have several nonCatholics in the choir simply because we do not have enough members interested in singing and they were willing to lend their musical blessings to help us out. We appreciate their help and welcome them.
