Can a Catholic be given two funerals?

My husband was recently killed in Iraq. He was sent to the U.S. and we had a funeral at his parents’ church as they are unable to travel. We live in Egypt and brought his cremains home. Can we have a funeral at our church in Egypt with our family and friends here?

I am very sorry for your loss and pray for the repose of your husband’s soul. May God be with you during this difficult time.

Check with your pastor or priest-chaplain to find out if it is possible to have a second funeral liturgy for your husband in Egypt. If it is not possible, then he should at least be able to offer a memorial liturgy for those in Egypt who knew and loved your husband.
