Dear friend,

If a Catholic marries outside of the Catholic Church without seeking the Catholic Church’s approval, the Catholic Church will not consider the marriage to be valid. To live in an invalid marriage without being celibate means that the person is living in the state of mortal sin and may not receive the Eucharist.
