The Catholic encyclopedia says the following:

" … But the influence of the demon, as we know from Scripture and the history of the Church, goes further still. He may attack man’s body from without (obsession), or assume control of it from within (possession). As we gather from the Fathers and the theologians, the soul itself can never be “possessed” nor deprived of liberty, though its ordinary control over the members of the body may be hindered by the obsessing spirit (cf. St. Aug., “De sp. et an.”, 27; St. Thomas, “In II Sent.”, d. VIII, Q. i; Ribet, “La mystique divine”, Paris, 1883, pp. 190 sqq.). "

Also, the Catechism under CCC 1673 speaks of exocism “through the spiritual authority which Jesus entrusted to his Church.” so it is indeed a possibility.

My advice however: stay very close to The Blessed Mother throughout your whole life. The adversary is a coward where she is concerned.

Prayer fortifies us against trials. It is the shield that the follower of God uses in his life. :gopray2:

Sure. I would suggest you listen to Matt’s advice. Plus, I’d throw in a Rosary at least daily.

If you don’t know how to say the Rosary, you can download the .mp3’s from the following site and say them along with the folks that have recorded the Rosary.

St. Padre Pio, a Franciscan, used to tell the young friars to “Go get me my weapon!” They would reply, “We’re Franciscans, we’re not allowed to have weapons.” Then, he’d clarify, “Go get me my Rosary!” He said the Rosary was the scourge of the devil!
