I overheard a coworker say that a couple cannot get married in the Catholic Church during Lent. Is this true?

No, it is not true. Couples can marry in the Church during Lent, but sometimes are discouraged by parishes from doing so. Those who do marry during Lent usually are encouraged to keep the wedding ceremony simple, in keeping with the penitential nature of the season. Those who want more elaborate ceremonies ordinarily are encouraged to schedule their weddings during the Easter season.
