Can a couple have two weddings?

I have a Catholic friend and co-worker who is videotaping a wedding. The bride is Catholic but the groom is not, and about 75% of the guests are non-Catholic. He said the couple is having two ceremonies: One ceremony with everybody is a short Mass with no Communion. They will have another Mass with the bride and groom doing the Communion. Is it the norm for Catholic weddings to have a separate ceremony without Communion for those who are non-Catholic?
 
I suspect your videographer friend has misunderstood the situation. Likely, the couple is attending a Mass after their wedding so that the bride may receive Communion in conjunction with her wedding. The actual ceremony will be a nuptial liturgy outside of Mass (not a nuptial Mass) so that the non-Catholics will not feel excluded during Communion time. The videographer may have been asked to film both events since the events are both in honor of the marriage, but should understand that the couple is not having two wedding ceremonies or marrying twice.
