Is this from God. Is it mentioned in the Bible? Why would the Cathechism say such a thing? I’m married, would love to have children but would prefer conditions to be right.
I don’t like the sound of that. The church has no right to dictate procreation. I don’t like it but I have got to say this. The Cathechism is putting a gun to your head in marriage expecting children. I find this disturbing and is certainly not from God. He will never force anyone to do anything in marriage. …What do you think?Difference is that the Church knows it can’t force sperm and egg to join. Doesn’t sound like you’re doing anything against your vows here.
Do you think God commands that a husband and wife be faithful to each other, Barna, or do you think He doesn’t want to “put a gun” to anyone’s head and force them to be monogamous ?I don’t like the sound of that. Yes, Hitler was a blessing when God created him. He wasn’t born already ordering Jews’ murders; he was just as innocent and beautiful of a baby as any other person. We don’t know what good effects he may have had on people before he chose a terrible path, and we don’t know what was deep in his heart at the moment of death. We do know that God did not love Hitler any less than He loves the rest of us, and He still created him even though He foresaw the terrible sins Hitler would commit.
Every person is valuable to God; therefore, every person conceived is a blessing. And yes, everything God creates is a blessing, because it is good (according to God in Genesis). That definition cannot make the term “blessing” lose its positive connotation, because it is based on the fact that what God creates is good. Sin brings evil into the world, but it does not change our fundamental goodness as human beings loved by God. Hence Jesus instructs us to love our enemies and those who do us wrong, because they are still valuable and worthy of love. Likewise, a conceived child who may inadvertently cause one’s life to become more difficult is still very good, valuable, loved by God, and thus a blessing.
There are still people who get married though.A person who is not open to children cannot validly marry.
I’m in the same boat as you with this I think. I don’t like it when I feel the church is forcing something on someone.I don’t like the sound of that. The church has no right to dictate procreation. I really don’t think its logical that all people know every single rule. We can learn them but remembering is not guaranteed.Anyone who seeks to marry in the Catholic faith knows this.
Pretending that you (or anyone) needs a special definitive statement to explain it is wrong.
Maybe it’s like “looking for a way out.” It’s a non-starter since ALL know the rules. IMO, it’s
shocking to imagine that folks want to ‘work around’ or negate the essence of marriage.

I’m happy for your parents. My Mother is Catholic and my Dad is Presbyterian. They got married in my mothers childhood church. They later adopted me because my mother is not able to have children. It can all work out in the end.My Mom is a Quaker and My Dad Greek Melkite Catholic… My Dad told the Church to take a hike when it came to marriage…
She and He got married before a judge and they didn’t plan on having children either… But then I came along (it was an accident since my dad wouldn’t let my mom take birth control)… Now they practice NFP and have all the sex they want (at the appropriate time)…
If a couple (as long as they’re a man and woman LOL) want to get married and no have children let them… It’s called civil marriage… My parents did it…

Clearly that PhD is not being used well if you have decided you know the ultimate answer to the nature v nurture spectrum that no scientist, faith, or research study has shown sufficient data for one or the other or some mix of bothWow, are YOU WRONG! “Yes, Hitler was a blessing when God created him.” is the dumbest sentence I have seen in years. Nothing could be further from the truth. One must only have seen violent criminals as youths the understand that personalities are largely innate. If Hitler had not become a dictator, he would have been a sex criminal, murderer, thug, and generalized pervert anyway.
