We have friends that we go out to dinner with after Mass every Saturday.I don’t think that the spouses favoring different political parties or candidates by itself should be much of a problem in marriage. But these political differences likely stem from differences in worldview between the spouses, where there is a good chance that they also disagree on things like religion, child-rearing, sexuality within marriage, and so on. Those differences would be much harder to overcome.
She is a diehard Conservative Catholic and he is anything but that. He hates the hell out of Trump. She worships the ground Trump walks on. They are in their mid 60s now.
Marriage is still going strong.
