Can a gay man become a priest?

Can gays (who want to do the right thing and not act upon who they are, but instead live a life of chastity and want to grow close to God and teach others about God and help them grow closer to them) become priests? This is a debate going on now between a couple of my friends and I and I just wanted to know the real answer.
