My daughter is not a practicing Catholic. My granddaughter - her daughter, who is 10 years old, has never been baptized. My grandduaghter has started going to church with me and wants to be baptized. My daughter has no objections. (I have prayed that my daughter will become a practicing Catholic…) Can I contact our parish priest and find out what steps need to be taken to have my granddaughter baptized or is this something that would have to be done by my daughter? I would be the one responsible for making sure that my grandduaghter attends church and learns about the Catholic faith.
