Can a Homosexual become a Heterosexual?

I tell you what I think.
Sexual preference means what?
Sexual act is?

How do these measure up with God?
We already know, it is all in God’s word.

God is more concerned with Holy Martimony. The family unit. Giving reverence to God.

The problem is that the homosexual separates themselves from God’s Holy plan. We have to be very clear that the homosexual act is NOT Holy and will never be.
Sex with children, again not an Holy Act.

My view is that homosexually is a LEARNED act. Therefore can be unlearned.
No one is born that way. No one is born to have sex with children and no one is born to have sex with the same sex.

Hetrosexually is NATURAL . It is the separation of an un-Holy act, that makes it unnatural.

Homosexuals deny themselves and others of the opposite sex to Love and Grow in God’s love and intervention.

What do I know.
I am a convert and I have been amongst homosexuals for about 40 years. I am a father of 4 and have a wonderful wife who is my good friend and we are good together.
It is not about sexual preference, it is about acknowledging how God intented marriage to be.
But, but you may say…go on say all you like.
“Get over it”, and I tell you that to keep on going with homosexually, you are making an 60-80% issue over sexual preference when in the natural state probably only accounts for 1% of natural living.

Dakota Roberts, didn’t say that they’ve proven a link between a woman smoking marijuana during pregnancy & a baby taking part in gay/lesbian activities but it’s possible. They’ve also not conclusively proven that gay/lesbian activities are the result of genes but people still keep rehashing ‘homosexuality’s genetic.’ If gay/lesbian activities are the result of genes, then it’s a birth defect. Cigarette butts are called fags, but fags can also be used to refer to marijuana. What they have found with homosexuality is that if a woman experiences trauma during pregnancy, the likelihood is more that the baby will take part in gay/lesbian activities as the fetus often doesn’t get enough nutrients during trauma-such as a woman pregnant in a war zone. Anyhow Datoka Roberts, I’m not a Catholic, but do you see anything wrong with gay/lesbian actvities as I do :confused: In some nations, gay/lesbian activities even between consenting adults is a crime. If they made gay/lesbian activities a crime again in the U.S., then it would be the same as having laws against marijuana use by consenting adults. Even if gay/lesbian orientation doesn’t change, it’s still best for them to be celibate as it’s about ending gay/lesbian activities regardless of orientation change. With can gay sexual orientation change-Dr. RL Spizter has said since 2001 that he believes orientation change is possible for some gays/lesbians though after long journey. Maybe repair therapy has advanced. Most gay/lesbian groups would be hostile to repair therapy even if it’s 100% successful. More work needs to be done but a cure for homosexuality could eventually be found & the world’s a better place without homosexuality &
without sex change mutilations. 🙂
 
there is a morbid fascination with this topic on this web site. that seems a lot more interesting to unravel than the ridiculous speculation, opinions and hearsay on this topic.
 
Homosexuality is a mental illness that can be overcome if one is willing to go to a psychologist and get help.

No, in no way are those two things the same. In fact, they are so not the same that I cannot possibly begin to understand the train of thought that results in their equivocation, assuming that such a train exists at all.

The answer to this question is scientific. Either homosexuality is genetic, or it is not. I see no reason at all to speculate on something that has a certain but unknown answer.

Baelor, just because gay/lesbianism maybe genetic doesn’t change the fact that gay/lesbian activities are harmful just as smoking pot is harmful. But they haven’t proved the gene theory. If it’s genes, then again it’s a birth defect. But any behavior incl. sexual behavior can be learned. If a boy is repeatedly homosexually raped in youth, then the likelihood is more that he’ll take part in gay activities in adulthood vs. if he wasn’t. So there are people who choose to be gay/lesbian behaviorally speaking though homosexuality isn’t true orientation. What you experience in youth may impact what you do in adulthood. It’s hard to know how sex abuse impacts mind. Now I know gay/lesbian groups will deny the link between childhood sex abuse & adult homosexuality, but I believe that for **some **, it’s possible as it’s hard to know how sex abuse impacts mind. Saying that sex abuse (esp. repeated homosexual rape in youth) as a link to bed wetting, insomnia, drug junkies, etc. isn’t controversial, but gay/lesbian groups get offended when you mention the possibility that a boy who was repeatedly homosexually raped when he was young is taking part in gay activities in adulthood because the sex abuse may have damaged his thinking that he takes part in behaviors he wouldn’t have had he not been sexually abused.

I understand that. But your statement made absolutely no sense whatsoever. In what way are the two things at all comparable besides their moral status as wrong?

You are correct. That happens to be the reason that I do not make claims like the one you did prior to this statement.
 
I voted undecided but I think ‘OTHER’ would be more appropriate.

I don’t think all homosexuals are the same.

There are some who turn to homosexual behavior because of abuse in their childhood.
There are some who turn to homosexual behavior because of neglect.
There are some who genuinely just seem ‘born that way’.

Depending on the circumstances I think some could be taught to have a healthy heterosexual relationship… but some maybe can’t. We all have our crosses to bear. We are not all meant to procreate, or to be in relationships. Some of us are meant for higher things… like being devoted to God and God alone.

The terms are actually unrelated in origin, just because they look related doesn’t mean they are. Male and female are unrelated in English origins.

Monocausal are bad, fallacious even. There are many possible answers with different mixes of genetics, hormones, environment, choice and others.

The term is not junkies, it is addicts! Some people become left handed due to brain damage post birth, but that doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority are simply that way.

Monocausals are not fallacious if correct. Let me rephrase:

Either one of the causes of homosexuality is genetic, or not. Because I am unsure of homosexuality’s origins, I am open to a variety of causes. The reason that I phrased my response in the way I did was too relate it directly to the poll. Anyway, thank you for prompting a clarification on my part.

Homosexuality is not a mental illness. It would be unethical for a psychologist to “convert” a homosexual. The unethical psychologists who attempt to do so are held in very low regard by their peers.

Regardless of how someone becomes a homosexual or someone with Same Sex Attraction,
It is not in the creators plan and because of the factual evidence of how our bodies are created, their is only one option. Men for women and no other creation for the main purpose of procreation and the raising of children in a loving family unit. Doesn’t matter if you choose not to marry or not, you have only one form that tells you that you are made for the opposite sex. As far as birth defects it doesn’t change the facts either. Defect isn’t a good thing, so we have to live with a defect, doesn’t mean we change what we were meant for. Because of man’s fall all the defects are part the sinful affects of what Adam did in all creation by not following God’s path for him. Remember everything was perfect in nature before that. Unfortunately we have been given free will. If we are confused of what we are supposed to do morally we are to follow our Catholic faith. That which will make right with what is wrong with us spiritually. We are all sinners and everyone has temptations. When you know that you have an attraction to the Same Sex, you know it is out of the disorder of what God created for man. Not the person with a disorder, but their sexuality is disordered in there thinking.

If you had an attraction for children or animals would someone say you were born with it so it is OK? It is like we have a car that is meant to be driven, but we are trying to make it fly or it doesn’t have all the parts working so we put the wrong parts that don’t won’t make it run, so we push it instead. We have to use things that are for the purpose of what they were created for, not what we want by our feelings but what our intelligence says.

So as far as children and animals, what would the public say about that in this time of history? It is wrong. Why then do people think, who don’t have anyone in their family that has Same sex attraction, say this is normal and should be accepted and encourage people to follow that path? They certainly wouldn’t feel that way if they had a child in that life. I know. Why? Because we have the Devil. He is the deceiver and he is the one that uses our senses to make us believe the lie for those who are not following Jesus and the Catholic faith. So then what should we do? Fight for the truth to be told. Stop letting the activist bully us into accepting that this is normal and start to change back the laws that are moral. We are suppose to be of the world not in it. We cannot go along to get along. We have to be strong and we have the best on our side. God. So the point is not that how we got here with all the different reasons that one may find about how people got their same sex attraction, it is about helping them see that they can come to grips with it and change their path to either celibacy or if they want to find out what brought them there, reparative therapy, if they turn it over to God. He is so much bigger than us puny humans. Is nothing impossible for God?

If you truly believe there is a God and are still having the same problem over and over, then ask yourself if you are placing all of yourself in his hands. Sometimes we still don’t want to give all of ourselves to God is the problem. We must find the root of our problems, any problems, that keeps us from freeing ourselves from advancing to holiness. If you don’t pull the root of the cancer, it can keep coming back. Look deep inside and ask God for the grace. God does work miracles, but we have to accept his will for when he says it is time and thank him in advance for answering our prayers. He puts the desire in our hearts for us to come to him and if you don’t have that desire and it is not of God, ask God to take that desire away. The devil wants us too. We need to ask for the patience for the day he will perform what we prayed for. He does listen to our prayers if they are good for us. Why wouldn’t it be good to pray for his help to keep froms sin? He wants us to make sure that it is him working the miracle in us and not ourselves. We can do nothing without him. He who will make everything right! Faith, Hope and Perseverance,

You seem to fail to realize that man is incapable of curing concupiscence of the flesh, only God can do that. Reparative therapy is divorced from God and is based on Freud’s work who I’m sure you know has fall out of favour in the US once peoople realize he was a crackhead crank who wanted to screw his mother, elsewhere people didn’t take Freud seriously.

I think that people can overcome most mental illness. But I won’t speculate as to the rate at which it is possible.
 
I am not sure that people can ever change their temptations, but with God’s grace they can overcome them, and lead a life in accordance with His will for them. This applies to all manner of sin, which can be overcome with the sincere desire for divine grace. Outside of the Church this is much more difficult as the sacraments are lacking which are the usual means of grace. Thus it is our duty as Catholics to pray for conversions.

Hadrianus, I like how you put that. With God’s grace we can overcome our temptations. For me and others it is SSA. For others it is just something else. Some temptations are stronger than others; some are more difficult to overcome, etc.

I never really understood all the fuss about how someone becomes homosexual. It would be nice to know, so that we can either prevent it or maybe help someone to change their attractions if they would like. Even if it has a genetic cause, so that someone is truly born that way, it still would not make homosexual acts any less sinful.
