Someone said today that the deacon in his parish wanted him to proclaim the first reading at the Easter Vigil and he could leave after that and not stay for the rest of the Mass. Can a lector do that?
While there is nothing that explicitly states the lector can’t leave after proclaiming a reading, it also doesn’t explicitly state the lector can’t proclaim the reading while doing a handstand. Common sense and the rubrics for the Mass presume that all ministers of the Mass remain throughout the Mass.
