Hello everybody 🙂
First of all, forgive me for my grammar, its not my mother language, and sorry about the “great wall of text” :o

Im new here. I found this site a few days ago, accidentaly, searching for something else. I have been surfing through the site ever since. oh… let me get to the point 🤷

Im 18 year old male, catholic.
As i child, i was raised by my parents and my grandmother. I used to go with my grandmother to the Mass since i was like 3 or 4 years old, or so (maybe even earlier, but i cat remember really), i was praying with her, id love when she would read me from the Holy Bible etc. Altogether, i considered myself as a catholic. But then, i moved away with my parents. Since then, i started losing faith. I would still regulary go to the catholic classes in school, and sometimes (but only sometimes, on special occasions) would go to Mass with a friend or my parents. For my chrism, i had to the Mass really often, and some extra classes. After the chrism, i had enough of the going to the Mass (sad, i know), and when i got to high school, i chosen Ethics instead of cathecism, as i had enough of it.
I havent been to Mass for a long time now, confession as well (4 years i think), but we still celebrated the big holidays, like Christmas, Easter and every other. And the praying?? Oh…

So, few days ago, i dont know how, from a total un-catholic life, something enlightened me, and told me to behave myself. I did. I dont know how, when and why, but i want to get back to the catholic life.
I started browsing this site. Ive read many topics about the mortal sins and all the obligations, and i must say im worried and scared now.
Many topics like, “I missed one Mass, what should i do” etc, really made me worry about my past 10 years of care-free life.
Im afraid of changes, of so many things ill have to remove and avoid from my life, that i got used to.
For example, I really want to go to the Sunday Mass again (not really that i would enjoy it, but as i said, i think that getting back to religion is the right thing to do), but how should i tell this to my parents? Im afraid that they would be laughing at me (as they know me as a person that isnt so religious, and now suddenly wants to go to make a confession and go to the Mass). I know they wont really mean it, but still, i dont know how to tell them this, i want to avoid the possible displeasure.
Also, how should i confess? I confessed last time about 4 years ago. So many things happened, that i wont be able to remember. Should i highlight some things, and let some go untold?

There are so many things i want to ask, but still, dont know what to start with.
And i have so many problems on my mind lately. I have really lots and lots to study, but i just cant force myself to start and keep working. Also, i have to prepare myself for the university, to final exams for this year etc.

To sum up, im really depressed and stressed with all my problems, so can i ask for a prayer to help me work things out? I really need one…
I know that many people have much worse problems than me, but this is really important to me. My future education and life depends on this life period.

Thanks for your time 😊
God Bless

Praying for your intentions

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Dear Lord, please lead this soul back to You. May he be strengthened in his desire to come back to You, and may he know that Your Holy Church always awaits him with open arms.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I Trust In You!

The Holy Spirit is calling you back to the Catholic Church. Tell your parents. Once they see that you are serious, they will support you in whatever way they can. Go to Confession. For now you only have to confess the Mortal Sins in your life. (Missing Mass is one of them). Try to join a youth group at your local parish; you will find people your own age there who will understand and support you. Remember that you are at Mass not for our own entertainment, but to give praise and worship to God. Welcome Home!

Praying that the Holy Spirit guides you along your journey and lifts your heavy heart…

As Jesus said in the Gospel of this past Sunday, “Peace be with you!” Jesus welcomes you with open arms! Always know that confession is the ONLY place you can get this kind of true peace from Jesus - once you are right with Him nothing else can compare!
Study up on the Holy Mass. You seem like a bright young man, and once you know the treasure of the Holy Mass you will have even more of a desire to attend. You are on the right path! As Pope John Paul II said many times “Be not afraid!” Go forward in faith!
My prayers and the prayers of many others are with you! 👍

Hiya Paladin7; great to see you here.

Paladin, the nick for a warrior. Seems you’ve already got heaps of valour, determination and strength within you! 👍
I’m new here. I found this site a few days ago, accidentaly, searching for something else. I have been surfing through the site ever since. oh… let me get to the point 🤷
Once upon a time, everybody was new, here.
Im 18 year old male, catholic.
You are a human being, created in love by God, to know and live in the Love of God. Your life is the perpetual journey of return to the Divine Presence. :extrahappy:
As i child, i was raised by my parents and my grandmother. I used to go with my grandmother to the Mass since I was like 3 or 4 years old, or so (maybe even earlier, but i cat remember really), I was praying with her, I’d love when she would read me from the Holy Bible etc. Altogether, I considered myself as a catholic. But then, i moved away with my parents. Since then, I started losing faith.
That you have your grandmother to thank for your faith is a blessing. Goodness, faith and mercy come from being raised in the faith by parents and especially, grandparents. I have both my grandmothers to thank for my sustained faith (especially as they both married non-catholics!). They meant a lot to me then, and they still mean a lot to me today.
I would still regulary go to the catholic classes in school, and sometimes (but only sometimes, on special occasions) would go to Mass with a friend or my parents. For my chrism, I had to the Mass really often, and some extra classes. After the chrism, I had enough of the going to the Mass (sad, I know), and when I got to high school, I chose Ethics instead of cathecism, as I had enough of it.
Yes, chrism is the last of the sacraments of initiation. You had your good foundation in the faith, and I suspect you went down the right path, for it is more important to know what is right and wrong, and to DO that. Faith is one thing, knowledge is another, put practice of the right thing to do brings you nearest to the Father’s heart. 👍
I havent been to Mass for a long time now, confession as well (4 years i think), but we still celebrated the big holidays, like Christmas, Easter and every other. And the praying?? Oh…
Prayer is that secret conversation between you and God. But it is not the only way to be close to God. Loving God, speaking to God, sharing your life with God, asking God for help all the day long, these little things bring you closer and closer to the heart of God. Smile to God, he absolutely LOVES it. Just a little smile, He’s done a lot for you, not just speaking to you the other day and telling you to lighten up and behave.
So, few days ago, i dont know how, from a total un-catholic life, something enlightened me, and told me to behave myself. I did. I dont know how, when and why, but I want to get back to the catholic life.
The Divine intervened in your life? Wow! :extrahappy:
Aren’t you a blessed young fellow!
I started browsing this site. Ive read many topics about the mortal sins and all the obligations, and i must say im worried and scared now.
Whaddya wanna get scared for? Hey, Paladin, God is love. Go read the Gospel of John, 1:14 … Jesus is the one who is nearest to the Father’s heart and has made him known!

Scared has nothing to do it. God so loved the world, that he sent his only begotten Son! That means he LOVES you! Reflect on that, 'tis all about love, not about being scared.
Many topics like, “I missed one Mass, what should I do” etc, really made me worry about my past 10 years of care-free life. Im afraid of changes, of so many things I’ll have to remove and avoid from my life, that I got used to.
Yes, well, one thing at a time. Not everything at once, or you will not cope. You will overload yourself with more and more stress, as you mentioned at the bottom of your post. You don’t need this, and God does not call you to a life of stress, pressure, depression. God calls you to love him, in every little moment. Treat him like your best friend. And listen to him, change just one thing at a time, not everything.

The best rule of thim is …

First common sense. Then spiritual sense. Trying to conform to everything at once will not help you. One thing at a time, one step at a time, get your life back in order, slowly, with the love and daily companionship of God, hey?
For example, I really want to go to the Sunday Mass again (not really that i would enjoy it, but as i said, i think that getting back to religion is the right thing to do), but how should i tell this to my parents? Im afraid that they would be laughing at me
You relationship with God has nothing to do with your parents. Get it straight, its between you and God. This voice inside you that enlightened you, spoke to you, dinnit? It didn’t speak to your Mom or Pa. You got the message. If your behaviour, your demeanour and your manners become exemplary, then they have something to be proud of, yes?

If you get mockery and scorn (which I doubt will happen) just ignore it.
I don’t know how to tell them this, i want to avoid the possible displeasure.
First, common sense. I hardly think any parent is going to express displeasure at the fact that you have faith, and you seek to have God in your life as your best friend. So first, common sense, then spiritual sense. Spiritual sense in this matter says “show respect, manners, decorum” and love them as you love God. The matter will work itself out. No parent is going to be upset at your good demeanour and manners.
Also, how should i confess? I confessed last time about 4 years ago. So many things happened, that i wont be able to remember. Should i highlight some things, and let some go untold?
First, common sense, then spiritual sense.
The matter belongs between you and God, so discuss it with God, your best friend. Friends can talk about anything, can’t they? Hey? Take it to God and listen, listen, listen, He will speak.

Paladin, the nick for a warrior. Seems you’ve already got heaps of valour, determination and strength within you! 👍

Welcome!
I ask that you will accept the grace to go to Confession soon and to confess what you remember after examining your conscience. I ask the Lord to encourage you to know that you needn’t be nervous as priests welcome returning souls, and God most certainly does. Your peace afterwards will be a joy to you, and your soul will be a joy to God! 🙂
We’re happy to have you amongst us.
God will give you the graces you need, for which we thank Him!

I will keep you in my prayers and daily Masses.
God bless you…Trishie 🙂

Harvest
Beloved Jesus—from the compost of my sins, failures, faults and omissions please enrich the soil that nurtures the harvest that You prepare of my being and life—for Your delight, and for others’ benefit.

From the flower and fruit of all grace and good sprung from You within me, please bountifully glorify Yourself and bless all whose lives touch mine!

Contrition
God, I have sinned against others, against myself, and against You. I am unworthy to be Your child.

I have offended Your goodness and Your dream of who I really am. I may have denied You the joy of blessings that You wish for me and for others through me. You alone know the entire consequences of my failure. Yet Jesus assures us that You joyfully celebrate my return from sin, and run to welcome and reclaim me as Your own.

Look on those tasks of love and service that I fail to undertake or to complete, and bring them to completion. Please bring out of my failures, such fruits of these new opportunities enhanced beyond all previous expectation, for from our human betrayal of Your divine plan of Creation, Your mercy wrought the magnificent plan of redemption that reverberates through time and eternity!

In trust, I will not accuse myself for sins already forgiven and absolved or for temptation if I have not actually sinned. I believe that temptation can be overcome by Your grace, inspiring greater faithfulness to the Gospel and the Sacraments.

Our God, please help me to value myself as Your child, knowing that all worth and holiness comes from You. In Your mercy, please transform into good all that in weakness or ignorance I may spoil. I want to give blessing that is abundant beyond original possibility, to anyone I ever harm or deprive.

May I so belong to You, may I be so transformed by Your love, that my faults no longer are sin or offence in Your sight and can foster nothing that impedes Your will. This, my soul in trusting confidence implores.

In failure

Jesus, I put my trust in the apparent failure of the Cross, for You are condemned to a criminal’s execution and it seems that Your mission has failed, You who alone could redeem humanity.

Who can accept that it is God-incarnate whose sweat and blood drips into the dust, from Your drained, dishonoured body! Yet Your human cry of abandonment by the Father is belied by the triumph of love and faith in Your final confident submission. You die, but You have not betrayed the Father’s trust.

Jesus, to my sadness, I fail in many ways and sin against others by my failures. Have I betrayed Your will or mistaken Your purpose? Will You restore me to grace now, Jesus? To do what? Will You show me? Will You fuse together the broken pieces—of my life, of my service—to make a new and better creation? Am I to step around the fragments and to pass another way?

I ask to walk with certainty along the path of holiness that You choose uniquely for me. If not, then please allow me the certainty of buoyant faith. I ask courage to continue through the enveloping fog, trusting each small moment to the illumination of faith and grace.

Jesus out of my failure and sorrow You will bring healing and goodness luminescent as priceless pearls grown around grains of suffering, for Your glory, and for others’ remedy and blessing.

I want to thank you all for your prayers and advices. You gave so much strength to go on!
Your advices really helped me to think about it all. I guess i should start step by step… Its the best way to make some changes, and in the end, to become a true catholic once again.

I though of a tactic how to tell my parents about it. Its not a tactic though, ill just tell them how the things are standing; We are catholics, but we certainly dont act like ones. Its really not OK, and i want to change it. Then whats the meaning of celebrating the Christmas, Easter and so on… Presents? We should show our Catholicism in our every day life, instead of being ones only on holidays… This might even make them go to the Mass with me, and be a step closer to God.

And yes, i know that Paladin means something like a God-sent warrior of light. Thats why ive chosen it.

Thanks again for your help :heaven:
I’ll keep you all in my prayers tonight

God bless you Paladin. 🙂
I ask the Lord to continue leading you in this wonderful new beginning for your life and faith,
andI ask Him that your faithful and respectful example will inspire your family to live the Catholic faith more fully also.

For you and your parents:

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but
with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners, now
and at the hour of our death. Amen

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

May your guardian angels and your patron saints pray for you and your family
