I know that people who die in a state of mortal sin go to hell, however if a person dies unexpectedly or is murdered, before he can plan on going to confession, does he still go to hell?
Anyone who dies in mortal sin goes to hell, no matter the manner in which they met their death. That is why we must live our lives in such a way that we are always prepared to meet death, however unexpected it may be.
